Should Probably Leave by Shastuhh

Chapter 1

agome sighed as she rolled over off the narrow hips that she had been grinding on for the last thirty minutes. Once more like the devil he was, he managed to push all the right buttons, the tension between them had always felt like it was on the verge of boiling over. In the heat of the moment one thing turned to another. The strike of her hand on his muscled arm, the cruel, satisfied smirk on his face as soon as she made contact with him. This sizzle of her reiki and his yoki as both auras fought for dominance around them.

Only Sesshomaru had ever managed to tick her off to the point of physical abuse upon his person there was just something about him and the snide comments he would make and each never he managed to tap dance on with perfect precision. Each time would start off civil then as the night would progress and the wine would flow her anger would spike with each barb he made.

Kagome was not sure why each time she would be the last one sitting at the table with him at the end of the night but she always was. It was like a never ending cycle; they each fed off the other and brought out the worst in each other. Their shared group of people seemed to know the perfect time to leave each time.

At some point she should probably just stop avoiding coming to the little gatherings that end up with nights ending in them working their frustrations out with each other's bodies and a night of pleasure.

Her eyes slanted over to him as he laid on his back, an impressive array of scratches and love bites adorning his flesh from his neck to those hips she had just rolled off of. He had the body of an Adonis, the emotional range of a teaspoon, and the personality of a piranha. A little part of her hated herself that she had ended up here once more with him.  How does a shove and a slap turn into a kiss and then the shredding of clothes and a sexy tumble under the stars.

She looked up at the moon in the sky trying to gauge the time, she was tired between the wine and the physical activities that they had participated in was starting to get to her. She knew she should probably leave but she was tired. A little nap might be good and then with any luck when she woke up he would have already left and she wouldn’t have to worry about it.

Yawning, Kagome laid back on the cold grass and closed her eyes.

****

Watching though eyes half massed, Sesshomaru watched as the woman beside him that drove him to his wits end yawned and laid down beside him. It wasn’t late by any means the sun had set maybe a couple hours ago. Normally, Kagome would leave as soon as she was finished taking her pleasures from his body.

He liked her fiery attitude and he liked these moments he got to spend with her even if it was just physical there was just something about her that ensnared him. He had been tangled in the web that was Kagome for a long time but he had no idea where to even start with addressing how The Miko made him feel. He did know that how he was going about things now was not the way to go but she made it so damned hard to talk to her and she was so disagreeable with him most of the time he tried to talk to her.

What he wanted was to take her and make her his, to possess her mind, body, and soul. He wanted to carve out a spot and burrow so deeply into her that she would never be able to leave him and when she did he was all that she thought about.

As her breathing evened out he let his eyes scan over her nude body. She was beautiful, she had a timeless beauty about her and he wanted nothing more than to reach out and pull her close to him.

As that thought crossed his mind he thought that it was probably time for him to leave, however he didn’t want to leave her out here in the middle of a field for anyone or any type of danger could just stumble upon her. A deeper part of him wanted to say and since she stayed tonight and didn’t immediately leave after did that mean she wanted him to stay as well?

In the end he knew how this would end. It didn't matter who left first one of them would end up leaving regardless at some point so he gave into that temptation that was there to reach over and pull her close. He only wanted a little bit more time with her, he wanted all of her time honestly but what future could they have they seemed to burn hot and then fizzle out mostly.

What happened after the fizzle? He had always wondered but was equally scared to find out. He was not someone who laid it all out. Could he tell her that he wanted her to stay?  Would she leave anyway? He wasn’t sure he could handle that rejection, but wasn’t she worth the risk?

Before he knew it the sun was rising in the sky and he had ended up staying the whole night with her wrapped in his arms and watching her as she slept. The early dawn light was dancing upon her skin emphasizing each mark he had left upon her tanned skin. He felt the moment when she started to come to consciousness her body had tensed as her muscles pulled and contracted as she stretched within his arms.

He watched as her brow furrowed her eyes, not yet opening her mind trying to put a puzzle together. He waited, not yet sure what exactly to do; this would be new territory for both of them. He feared she would wake up and say she should leave and was equally scared to tell her this time that he didn’t want her to leave. He took a deep breath in and held it for a moment.

Those beautiful eyes cracked open and met his, and he saw a plethora of emotions dancing across them in an instance. Those cruel lips of hers opened and he felt the knife to his heart.

“I….” Her brows furrowed and she closed her mouth and looked at him. For a moment she was silent and he held his breath just waiting.

She tried again. “You…”

He was just as speechless as she was at this moment.

********

Kagome was flabbergasted, she wasn’t sure what to do, the sun was annoyingly in her eyes and she could feel Sesshomaru’s hard and toned body like a furnace against her.

Why had he stayed? Why didn’t he leave? Why was he subjecting them to this awkward moment of waking up the morning after? This was not normal and no matter how much she had always wanted and dreamed to stay with him after one of their nights of pleasure, now that the moment was here she wasn’t quite sure what to do with it.

Would he leave now? Would he ask her to stay? Did she want him to ask her to stay, that’s silly of course she did, but they were like polar opposites. How could they even try to have a relationship? It's not like the past events leading to this have been positive.

She waited for him to say something, anything.

And she waited.

They both seemed to be lost for words and neither seemed to know what to do next.

Kagome released a breath that she had been holding as she waited for him to speak.

She felt the pain of her heart breaking at that moment. She knew better than this she knew him and he knew her, they could never work out past one night no matter how many nights they shared. All that she wanted was to stay, her heart told her to stay, here in this moment she wanted to be nowhere else. Her head told her that she should probably leave.

She opened her mouth one more time and finally decided to speak those words out loud.

“I should probably lea…”

****

Sesshomaru heard the words but his heart jolted and he couldn’t let her finish that sentence.

“Stay.”

The words came out as a command and much more forceful that he anticipated. The sun shining in her eyes show the surprise that she was feeling and he quickly made his amendment to his statement to make it a question and give her the choice.

“Please, Kagome, I want you to stay.” He paused as emotions crossed her face so quickly that he couldn’t decipher them.

“If you want to stay… that is. I would like for you to stay.”

He waited as his words hung between them awkwardly.

“I want more than just to have another night with you. I want you Kagome…”

He never got to finish his sentence before she interrupted him.

“Okay,” she breathed out. He felt the tension from her body leaving her. “I want to stay also.” A small smile graced those lips that he had thought of as cruel and beautiful, those lips that would make him lust for more and envy everything they touched that wasn’t him.

At that moment he felt relieved.

Relieved that he didn’t have to watch her leave again, that he wouldn’t hear the words that she should probably leave.

Relieved that she said she wanted to stay with him.
