Kagome was tired. Tired of summer. Tired of walking in the summer. Tired of looking for shards. She was just so tired…she stumbled on a root, or rock (couldn‘t really tell in the near dusk), and decided that that was going to damn well be it for today.
“Inuyasha! That’s it’s. No more walking. Not today. Not happening. Let’s make camp.”
“What? What the hell are you talking about! We need to go…” And off they went. The rest of the group just shook their heads, and found comfortable spots to wait the fight out. Kagome would win, then they would set up camp for the night.
Miroku thought that sometimes Inuyasha just dug his heels in to get Kagome flushed and irritated. That was certainly why he, on the rare occasion, did what he could to aggravate Sango. A flushed Sango was a beauteous thing to lay eyes upon…Miroku would have continued on that train of thinking for some time, except that Inuyasha had stopped arguing with Kagome. His ears were swiveling on top of his head, his nostrils flared to catch whatever it was that he was smelling.
Inuyasha tensed up, his whole body swerving east. “Why don’t I smell him?” With that cryptic comment in the air, Inuyasha sped off, leaving his friends to gape after him, then jump onto Kirara to follow.
They found him in a few minutes, and were mildly surprised to see him with Sesshoumaru’s little group, minus Sesshoumaru. As they landed, they saw that Inuyasha had picked the little green youkai up by his robes, and was shaking him back and forth.
“Where is he? Where is the bastard?! Is he here for Tetsusaiga?”
“I will tell you nothing! My Lord Sesshoumaru does not answer to filth like you -- gurk!”
Inuyasha’s had wrapped his hand around the toad’s throat at that point, and would have continued shaking him, if Kagome hadn’t stepped up, exasperated. “Inuyasha, put him down. We’ve been through this before. He went off for something, and they don’t know where he is anymore than we do.” She smiled brightly at Rin. “Hey, Rin! How are you?”
The little girl beamed up at her. “I am well, Lady Kagome.” She looked at Shippo out of the corner’s of her eyes, who was bounding up to them. “Hi!”
“Hi, Rin! Whatcha doin’?”
“Waiting. Lord Sesshoumaru had to leave, and he told us to wait here.”
Inuyasha had already dropped Jaken, leaving him to pick himself up. “Stupid human! Do not tell them -- eerk!” Miroku’s staff came across the top of Jaken’s head, effectively cutting off his rant.
“That’s enough of that. Now, I do believe that this is a wonderful spot to make camp. A fire is already started, and we have such wonderful new company!” This was followed by a little wink at Rin, who blushed, and let out a small giggle.
Kagome braced herself for an argument from Inuyasha, but when she turned to him, she caught him looking at the dark forest that surrounded them, then at Rin.
“Keh. It’s fine by me.” He shot Kagome a glare. “But just for tonight!”
She just smiled, and started with dinner.

This is actually just a piece of a longer piece that I wrote for the Ebony Silks community challenge. I reread it, and decided that it comes out as just some one-shots and drabbles put together. So that's how I'm going to post it on this site. I made a few changes, so I hope it comes out all right! : )
