The kids always threw rocks at her
for being friends with him
they never understood
what the two of them had.
He would try and stand up
to them
but he was the runt of his litter
and always was pelted with the rocks
same as she.
Together the two of them grew
and he cared for her,
she was the one that held him
when his mother died.
She was the one that
calmed him down
when Inuyasha was born,
his rage at his father an undying flame.
She was the one that told him
not to worry
when she lay on the sick bed,
dying with every breath she took.
He didn't understand
what was going on,
she looked as she always had,
beautiful, and breathtaking.
He couldn't see
her broken heart,
couldn't tell he was the one
tearing it apart.
He didn't know,
couldn't tell that the wishful
looks he saw on her face,
were indeed for him.
He thought they were
for the strong and handsome farm boy
down the road.
So he blocked off his heart
secretly breaking hers apart.
He never knew,
he never saw
his own greatest flaw.
Not showing her his love
that he should have,
but he just couldn't
see
that she was dying
from a broken heart.
When all was said and done
she didn't die from any rock
and she was the first one that
made his secretive heart break.
Every full moon
he was at her grave,
doing as he should have
when she was alive.
“Kagome, how I hold you dear
but now your gone,
and I do fear
that I will be following soon.”
The sun was at half-past noon
and the wind sent her message
straight to him.
“I love you too,
but don't you make the same mistake as I
live your life,
as this really isn't goodbye.”
Feeling a reserve he didn't know he had
he got up,
and went away.
He knew she wanted,
no needed him to live
he would do so
but only because it was her who wished it.
