A Disobedient Pet
Prologue
Disclaimer: Once again not mine, the sand in the sandbox is mine though. Just not the lovely toys that I love to play with. :)
Author Note: Prologue is kinda short, but I am working on the first chapter so no worries. Please review and rate! Everything in Italics is either a flashback or a dream.
Kagome was sleeping in the small cave that she shared with her mother. She once also shared it with her little brother, Souta, but he had been taken while looking for food. Kagome was still young, six years, but she knew what youkai did to her kind. They captured them and used them as if they were pets. Kagome did not know why they did this, but the only fact that mattered was that they did it. There was, off in the back, a small alcove that would comfortably hide her and her mother if their hideout was ever found.
Her mother was currently out looking for some fresh berries. Kagome loved fresh berries they never tasted the same. Some of them were really sweet, while others were kind of bitter. The different tastes that she could discern from each berry enamored them to her. Kagome began to draw with a stick in the dirt. The picture was of her and Souta. She was holding Souta's hand so that he would not run off. She began to add tiny details. Like the grass, the leaves on the trees, and the clouds in the sky.
Kagome was nearly finished with the clouds when she heard the fast footfalls of her mother. Something was amiss, even the young girl could sense that. “Kagome, you must hide! Go to the alcove get in the pond and do not come out no matter what. I will not be coming for you. This is the last time that we will probably see each other,” her mother said as tears poured down her cheeks. She hugged Kagome to her before pushing her away. Towards the alcove that could have hidden them both.
Kagome ran into the dark corner of the cave, and stuck her foot in the water. It was cold, and she did not want to become as cold as the water so she did not get in. She could hear voices from the outside, and they were not nice voices like her mother's. No, these voices were mean and unkind. Kagome could see as they approached her mother that she did not resist. Kagome could not hear what they were saying so she crept forward. “Such a pity we are only to find a young human. She is quite a pretty little thing,” one of the bigger youkai said. Suddenly an ear shattering scream came out of her mother's mouth as one of them stabbed her with their claws.
Kagome did not come out of hiding. She did not wish to get captured as she saw many others get caught. She did not scream from the sight of her dead mother. She could not move at all. The youkai began to move out when one turned and sniffed at the air. A very scary grin appeared on his face. “She had a young pup. It would not be right if we left the young one to die, now would it?” He asked his men, as he came to get Kagome. Kagome felt something off about herself. She felt like electricity was playing underneath her skin. The youkai stopped approaching her and turned to one of his men.
“Get me the collar,” he barked at one of them. It was only a matter of seconds before he had said collar in his hand. He was once again approaching her. “Little miko, you can no longer harm me. I have this collar. I think it would look so nice upon your neck. Blocking out your mean miko powers. You would not want to get hurt for being bad now would you?” he asked as he continued to stalk her. Kagome backed up until she hit the wall. She was doomed, and she knew this.
“Girl, quit your fucking blabbering!”came the booming voice of her master. He had heard her calling out in her nightmare. Kagome woke up and silenced herself, now was not the time to be disobedient. She had been badly beat the other day for not listening. She would at least wait for her head to stop pounding before she next enraged him. She was the only pet that he had, and that meant that he took out all his frustrations on her.
