Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or the ideas included in these Christmas-themed drabbles do belong to me. :)
A/N: Since I never got around to finishing Ho Ho Hopefully, I decided to try doing DD again this year. I’ll probably do posts of HHH if the Christmas mood strikes me enough. :)
Chapter 1: Christmas Tree
“You’re wasting your time, Kagome. This tree ain’t gonna fit in the hut,” Inuyasha said with a snort, while staring at his best friend.
His eyes narrowed at the female’s flushed cheeks and at the way she panted softly, her breath escaping from her lips as wispy clouds into the frigid air. Grabbing the sleeve of her overcoat, the half-demon grumbled softly to himself before he turned to go back to Kaede’s village, dragging her along with him.
But Kagome was determined to be fairly stubborn.
Furiously digging the heels of her boots into the snow, she whined, “But Inuyasha! We need the tree! It won’t be Christmas without it!”
When she let out a small cough, Inuyasha quickened his strides.
“A dumb tree’s not important, stupid,” was his gruff answer. “Or, do you wanna get sick and die?”
“Of course not!”
“Then stop being an idiot and listen to me! The others won’t let me hear the end of it if anything happened to ya!”
Kagome’s gaze softened, knowing that he was just worried about her.
“You’re right. It was getting kind of cold out here anyway. Let’s go back.”
“Feh,” Inuyasha said, scooping her into his arms and ignoring her startled gasp. “You humans are too slow. It’s faster if I carry ya. So don’t complain, wench.”
The miko just rolled her eyes and pressed her face into his neck, falling asleep instantly.
. . .
After Kagome was safely tucked into her sleeping bag, Inuyasha turned toward the rest of his friends and demanded in a harsh whisper, “Why’s Sesshoumaru’s kid here?”
But before anyone could answer, the rustling of the door of Kaede’s hut grabbed his attention as well as the person who stepped through it.
“This Sesshoumaru’s ward wished to visit the miko. Is that a problem, half-breed?” he replied smoothly.
Inuyasha growled. “You–”
“Inuyasha…” Although Kagome was asleep, the hanyou’s ears flattened against his head. He was immensely relieved, however, when she didn’t murmur his least favorite word. Fixing a scowl onto his face, he glared at the other male.
“I don’t mind your brat, but why are you still lingering around here?”
“I have yet to leave my offering, little brother,” Sesshoumaru drawled.
“What offering?”
Saying nothing, Sesshoumaru left and retrieved a large, green mass from outside.
“Oh, hell…”
