Chapter 1: Explanation

Kagome finished packing the supplies and looked herself over in the mirror. Her long hair was pulled up into a ponytail and she had even found a way to put permanent colored streaks in her hair, and she loved it. She now had hot pink streaks in her ebony hair. She was wearing a white t-shirt, faded blue jeans, and converses. She had graduated high school, but she did have her college books with her so she could study those. She grabbed her pack and went downstairs. Kagome gave her mother and brother a hug good bye and went to the well house. She jumped through, but instead of the usual blue, it was a grey mixed with silver. She knew something was wrong. When she touched down, she climbed out. She didn’t have to wait long before she heard someone behind her. Slowly, Kagome turned around and saw a being that looked like Sesshomaru’s father. She stood there for a moment before she remembered her manners. “Oh! Where are my manners? Hello, I am Kagome.”

The male raised a brow. “I am Lord Inu no Tashio.”

Kagome paled. This can’t be happening! She knew there had been something wrong, and she was right. She had gotten sent even farther into the past. “I’m sorry, but what year is it?” He told her and she groaned.

Inu no Tashio was intrigued by the little onna in front of him. She was strange and she smelled nice. “What is it about the year that upsets you, Kagome?”

Kagome looked up at him with a look of horror on her face. “I got sent back two hundred years more. I am now seven hundred years in the past. I knew something was wrong.”

So this girl was from the future. She might come in handy, and she might actually have a sense of humor, unlike his mate and his son. “Since you have no place to go, you may come and stay with my family and myself.”

Kagome expressed her thanks, but then she had to ask so that she would be prepared. “Is Sesshomaru still an Ice Prince?”

Inu no Tashio laughed. Finally! Someone with a sense of humor! “Sesshomaru is as cold as ever, but don’t let that bother you. He has always been like that. Tell me what he is like in the future.”
“Well, to be honest, I don’t know him in my time, but I do know him two hundred years from now. He has tried to kill me numerous times, but then he has saved me a few times as well. I shot an arrow at him, so I don’t really blame him on the time he attacked me then. Other than that, he’s an absolute egotistic prick!”

Inu no Tashio was laughing and relieved at the same time. Usually any onna, be demon or ningen, would throw themselves at his son since he had come of age. “It will be quicker if we fly.”

Kagome shrugged and walked over to him and he grabbed her and they flew to the fortress. It took maybe about half an hour at best to get there. She saw Sesshomaru outside reading a scroll as she and his father landed. He looked up for a second, and then back down, but he looked back up and looked straight at her. Inu no Tashio claimed her attention before he could say anything though.

“I will have a servant prepare a room for you, Kagome. Shall I have a servant take that bag of yours?”

“No, I will be fine. Thank you.”

“Then, please, make yourself at home until we can find a way to get you back home.”

“Thank you, it is much appreciated.” She gave a small bow. Kagome watched him leave and then walked over to Sesshomaru. “May I inquire what you are reading?”

“Nothing an illiterate onna like you would understand.”

Kagome saw this one coming. “Oh? I can read and I can write. I know mathematics and I know my chemistry. I think I am perfectly literate. Now I will ask again. What are you reading?”

Sesshomaru looked at the woman before him, and decided he would test her. He was trying to decipher this poem. He showed her the scroll.

“It’s poetry. Do you not understand what it is trying to convey, or are you just testing me?”

Sesshomaru just stared at her wide-eyed. Not only was she the first female to not throw themselves at him, but also she was competent! “Both.”

“Well, it’s really quite simple. The poet is merely expressing his joy in the four seasons and was sending praise to the Kami. Now that I have helped you with something, would you help me?” Sesshomaru’s eyes narrowed. Maybe she wasn’t so different after all. “Well, I guess I should take out what I need help with first, huh?” She bent down and opened her pack and pulled out a thick textbook for her calculus class. “I don’t know how advanced you are in math, but this is calculus. Ever heard of it?”

Actually, he had. That was what he was currently working on and he hadn’t gotten very far. The instructions in his scroll were not very well written. He shook his head yes. He felt his father come out.

Inu no Tashio came back out and saw the thing Kagome was holding. “Now, what is that?”

Kagome looked at Sesshomaru’s father. “It’s my calculus book.”

Inu no Tashio’s eyes got as wide as saucers. The female was educated and yet she had a sense of humor. “How far are you?”

Kagome looked to the textbook in her hand. In all honesty, she had already completed it. She was just going back through to make sure she had everything right. “Well, I, uh, I have already completed it, but I was going through it a second time to make sure I got everything.” Now it was Sesshomaru who looked at her in disbelief. “Why are you two looking at me like that? Did I do something wrong?”

“What else do you know?”

“Nothing that I can show or tell you.”

Inu no Tashio and Sesshomaru looked at her and spoke at the same time. “Why?”

“For fear that it will alter the future.”

‘Future? Why would she have to worry about the future?’ Sesshomaru was confused.

Inu no Tashio studied the girl in front of him. It did make a lot of sense. “I see. That does make sense. Very well then, have it your way. Your room is ready for you. A servant will show you the way when you are ready. Since I don’t trust the servants in the guest wing, I put you right next to Sesshomaru.” He walked away to go finish some paperwork.

Sesshomaru looked at the girl that was from the future. “What happens to me in the future?”

Kagome looked at him and tried to change the subject, but it didn’t work and he brought it back to his future self. “Your not going to like what I have to say.”

“I will take my chances.”

“Well, first off you always talk in the third person and it’s extremely annoying. Second you are the lord and not prince. You are an arrogant, power craving, pompous, cold hearted, egotistic jerk. You have tried to kill me a few times and I have tried, and failed, to shoot you with my arrow, thanks to your poison claws. You have saved me a few times as well, but killing me definitely has a bigger number. However, that is what I know of you two hundred years from now. Seven hundred years from now, in my time, I haven’t a clue. I travel through time to right something that I did wrong. Along the way I made a few friends and a few enemies, and one stalker. You know which one of those three you fit into.”
