Amazing story...hilarious disclamer hehe ^-^ I'm glad you got first that was entertaining.
I'm both shocked and ecstatic to see a portrayal of a topic so often misused beyond all recognition being done in such a thoughtful, straightforward manner. (Plus, I'm delighted to see it called "kinbaku" instead of the blanket "shibari" most Westerners use.) This is, by far, the best portrayal of a healthy Lifestyle relationship I've read in fandom in- well, probably ever. I've even gotten into it with a few of the worse ones because it's irresponsible at best and dangerous at worst for someone who knows nothing about a BDSM or otherwise "alt" Lifestyle to read some of the abusive horror and think that's how it's supposed to be.
The focus on the emotional aspect with the high and the crash, particularly the crash for a first-timer, was lovely. And the very distinct aftercare coupled with the experienced artist's self-directed anger over not being more attentive was perfect. Aftercare almost NEVER gets mentioned and you're the first one I've seen explain it. Not necessarily in a "let me write you bulletpoints from this website or Bondage 101" way, but in a more realistic conversational way.
I was also so, so thrilled that you didn't include mutual sex in the first play scene. Most of the true dominant artists I've worked with would never, EVER consider having sex in a scene. That comes afterwards if the two of you have that kind of relationship. But in a lot of ways, it detracts from the sensory experience you get from playing. And the lack of pushing was beautiful; no dominant (or submissive for that matter) gets away with pushing beyond boundaries in the community without being blacklisted FAST. The safe word and the express warning mingled with the confusing emotions and overload were pretty damn close to how things can and will go.
If you haven't spent time in the community, I'm utterly amazed with your depiction of the budding interest, education, and relationship. Speaking as a long-time lover of kinbaku, aesthetically and via personal experience, this was a huge treat. And hell, I've been a makeup artist on conventional shoots AND "kink" shoots (and on a rare occasion or two, a corset model). As a general whole, the kinkster folks were always much more relaxed and having loads more fun. Everyone I've met on those sets will wax on and on about their personal taste versus other people without any judgment. It really is quite fabulous!
The last thing I wanted to compliment you on was the personality "transitions" with Sesshoumaru's characterization. You're very right that it's a damn hard thing to portray well, but it's HUGELY common with a lot of the dominants I've known. Especially the ones who enjoy a healthy dose of sadism. They're sweet, attentive, and incredibly solicitous; then you do a scene and it's like they're introducing you to Mr. Hyde. It's a fantastic dynamic because BOTH aspects are real; there's just a time and a place for each. In my own experience, a well-adjusted dominant has made peace with that while you see a lot of the newer folks struggle with the concept. And in some circumstances, the assholes who are just out and out abusers trying to camoflauge it as BDSM or power-exchange.
In a lot of Lifestyle circles, trust is far greater than love. After all, you can love the hell out of someone and never want them to have the key to your handcuffs. Or conversely, you can hate the ever-loving shit out of them, but trust them implicitly with your safety when you're vulnerable. When you hit on a trust AND love, that's when you've got a keeper. (In that vein, the collaring bit was absolutely adorable. The personal meaning was definitely much better than any jewelry could have been.)
And now I've rambled out something that looks like an essay. Sorry about that. I can summarize all that with saying you wrote this amazingly well, amazingly realistic, and amazingly sweet all at the same time. I enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed any bondage story, as I said, in recent memory. So from someone who's been inside those ropes and loved every minute of it, thank you for the beautiful fic!

Hahaha...good points to make at the end. This was something different and yet quite interesting. I like the way the characters came out even an even bolder Sango. I like that you make the point out that beautiful just doesn't have to be what fashion designers say. Quite the interesting story to be told and I'm glad that I took part in it :)
I read this, forgot to review and then remembered it (which already proves that it's such a great work) and had to come back to review it. Beautifully done.

This is beautiful and amazing and breathtaking. Certainly for the writing, more so for the handling of the subject - especially the exploration and discovery Kagome goes through. A beautiful intense meaningful story - many thanks for writing it. I shall enjoy this gift often.

Wow, you were right...good things come to those who wait! This was definitely paces fantastically, and was a beautiful story all wrapped up...or should I say all trussed up...and delivered with a great lemon bow! <3 Thanks for sharing!
LOL, benevolent... what was that??? Oh yes, I saw that! And, as it just so happens, when it comes to your writing, I agree!! What a totally unique story. I love the way you portrayed Kag's reaction to the initial shoot, and the way the whole thing slowly grew on her. You made her decision seem believeable and logical... and I love the ending! Glad you shared this with all of us!!!

*shake fist at Android for not allowing to post reviews*
You have painted a most attractive view of shibari, in a way I have not considered before. I greatly appreciate your views, find you a terrific writer, and I look forward to reading more of your depictions.

I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate this oneshot. Kinbaku, finally! It's difficult to find good, real, and accurate fetish SK fanfic, even more so for BDSM. Sesshoumaru's switch was so nearly perfect I just about died. I'm a typical lurker, but your works are absolutely wonderful! Keep it up, and I definitely look forward to more fanfics with unusual and tasty plots :D
