Author's Note:
I thank everyone for their patience. I was starting this story with only my iPhone, until I got my new laptop. I will be adding the rest of the chapter now.
Every breath felt like it was lighting her lungs on fire. Even blinking was becoming unbearable. Kagome didn't understand what was happening to her. She destroyed Naraku, having fired an arrow filled with her reiki directly into his forehead. The rest of the sacred jewel fell to her feet, where she quickly snatched it, added her few shards she had, and purified it. Without looking back at her friends, Kagome silently said her desired in her mind. 'Make everything as it should be!'
Immediately after, dark blue flames fly from the sacred jewel and begin to consume Kagome. Horrified, her friends try to rush to her aid, but the flames keep getting larger and hotter. Inside the inferno, Kagome was struggling to stay conscious. 'Kami, why?! Why?! I did everything that was asked of me. Why is there so much pain? What have I done wrong?'
By the next time she blinked, Kagome saw a vision in front of her. The woman smiled softly as her raven hair blew around her and blue eyes shined brightly. The armor she wore was outdated compared to the armor her friends wore with a thicker chest plate and heavy guards up and down her arms and legs. "Kagome, my dear, it is a pleasure." Her soft melodic voice rang out in Kagome's ears filled with a sense of power.
The woman reaches her hand out and cups a shocked Kagome's cheek. "My name is Midiriko, the creator of the Jewl of Four Souls and the guardian of the purity that is within the jewel. I have come in the place of the Kami's to tell you something important. With the death of Naraku, your fulfilled your destiny, but at the price of your friends and your love, Inuyasha." Tears seep from the corners of Kagome's eyes upon hearing this admission. "After all that you've been through and this high price, the Kami's have decided to change your path slightly. You will change history, so that youkai will survive into the future. For this to happen, your body is changing. You will also face a greater evil than Narkau and many challenges along the way. All of it is necessary and, in time, your path will become clear. Stay strong, little one. We will be watching you."
Midoriko slowly faded from her eyes, just as the intensity of the flames of increased. The last moment Kagome can remember is the beginning to scream in pain.

Everything was black. There was nothing in her vision, but darkness. There was a dull thrumming in her ears, almost like a buzzing of an insect. "Kagome...." Wait, that was her name. "Kagome, wake up. Please wake up." She was sleeping? Since when? She doesn't remember going to sleep. "You have to wake up, Kagome. For all of us."
Weakly, Kagome begins to open her eyes. Opening them felt like their weights attatched to her eyelids. In front of her is a woman... no, it's Sango. That's her name. "Sango..." Upon hearing her name, Sango nods and smiles brightly. Kagome sits up very slowly taking care not to much too fast as even the slightest movement felt like sharp spikes were being dug into her skin. She starts to look around after sitting up to see that she is in a small room with a warm fire in the middle with a pot over it. There wasn't much more to the room, but it felt roomy and comfortable. Kagome looks into Sango's face to see tears running down her face. "Sango, what happened after I made my wish?"
Looking into Sango's face, Kagome can see the look of horror start to fill her eyes. "Oh, Kagome, you have missed so much... We have to tell you so much." Kagome moves to a sitting position and shudders slightly. "Let me get you something to eat. I am sure you are famished. You have been a sleep for sometime now."
