Confessions in a Field by Hell Fire775
Chapter 1
Birds chirped while the sun shined down on the dewy grass on an early afternoon in feudal Japan. Two beings could be seen in a small field on a blanket, one sitting and the other laid out across the bottom half of the blanket.
“Isn't it a beautiful morning?” Kagome dazedly said while staring up at the clouds from her position on the ground.
“Hn, it is just as any other morning.” Sesshomaru answered while lightly stroking mokomoko and looking up at the clouds also.
“True, but something about this morning just...sticks out, I guess”
“Most likely miko it’s cause you’re here with me sharing my presence.”
“Your ego never stops surprising me, you know.” Kagome blandly said, giving him a flat look.
Sesshomaru said nothing and smirked at her response.
These shared mornings had become a regular for two, for the past 6 months, ever since Kagome had come back from her time after 3 years of being gone. It started off by accident after kagome happened upon the demon prince one day, while he sat watching over Rin, who played in the field, with Sango and Miroku’s girls. Though it started off awkward Kagome was, for some reason, pulled to stay. She had a strong feeling Sesshomaru felt the same, considering he came each morning, but she knew he’d probably never say out loud.
Three months in Kagome felt as if she was beginning to have a crush on Sesshomaru. Her three years gone in her era had given her lots of time to think and she let go of her crush of Inuyasha, though she still held him dear in her heart as one her best friends.
What she failed to say to Sesshomaru though was that this morning was different from others because she was going to confess to Sesshomaru. She had been thinking this over for 3 months, since first realizing her feelings. Though she was scared of rejection, of ruining their friendship, of everything, she refused to once again keep her feeling bottled up and decided to take a chance.
“Hey um..Sesshomaru, could I tell you something?” kagome said sitting up but still looking towards the sky.
“I was beginning to wonder if you were going to say something.”
“You could tell?” She wasn’t all that surprised, he always seemed to know these things.
“You’ve been anxious since arriving, your aura gave you away miko” he responded, more than a little curious as to what she was going to reveal.
“I guess I still need to work on that in my training, huh.” Kagome said lightly laughing.
“Speak your mind, Kagome.” He could tell she was stalling a bit.
“Ok, Ok...I...I have really enjoyed our mornings together, the small talk, stories we tell one another, even the times we just sit here and stare at the sky, and during this time I..I..”
She took a deep breath and finally turned to look at Sesshomaru, who was already looking towards her.
“I have feelings for you...it’s not quite love but, they're still strong” She continued to look at him nervously but, she felt a bit lighter having let her feelings be known.
Sesshomaru continued to look at her with his same emotionless look but inside he was surprised. These mornings with the miko had become something he found himself looking forward to each day.He felt as if he could truly relax with her in this field. At first he didn’t know how to feel about that but, over time though he just couldn’t bring himself to care. Her presence calmed him and her voice could be quite soothing to him when she told her stories.
Recently though he found that he looked forward to their mornings far more than before. He looked forward to her smile, her laugh, looking in her eyes, her scent, everything that was just her. It didn't take long for him to figure out what this meant. And now hearing that she possibly felt the same was a great feeling he couldn’t quite describe at the moment.
He continued to look at her and could see the nervousness in her eyes and after a few more moments he responded.
“How do you know miko, that you have feelings for me?”
She certainly didn’t expect that response but, it wasn’t a rejection so she ran with it and answered honestly. ‘No point in holding back now.’ She thought.
“I think it was about 3 months ago, I remember being on my way here thinking to myself that these are my favorite times of my day. That I couldn’t wait to be here with you seeing you, hearing your voice. Your little smirks and low chuckle, it was all stuff I looked forward to and helped me realize I had feelings for you.” By end of response she was blushing and had averted her eyes to a pair of squirrels chasing one another across the field.
She turned to look back at him and let out a small gasp to see that he had averted his eyes and had a small blush across his face.
“Are you blushing!?” She exclaimed
“Don’t be ridiculous, I just wasn’t quite expecting that to be your response” He said, turning to look back towards her.
“I will say though, Kagome, I share your sentiments”
Kagome, who was still slightly giggling at his previous response to being found blushing, was caught slightly off guard by what he said.
“You..you feel the same?” She questioned.
“I do Kagome, but I agree that I don’t quite think what I feel for you is love as of now” Sesshomaru responded honestly.
“That’s ok, but we can at least see where this leads, right?” She leaned towards him as she spoke.
“ I would like that” he also began to lean towards her.
“Me too” She said as their lips finally met in a light but sweet kiss.
After a few moments they pulled away and looked into one another's eyes.
“Is it too soon to say that, I don’t think it’ll take long for this to be love” Kagome dreamily said.
Sesshomaru merely chuckled and pulled her back for another kiss.
AN: This is my time posting on here. I hope everyone enjoys it. This was just something I came up with one afternoon and thought it was kind of cute. I have no one who could read through to edit so if there’s any issues, I’m sorry.
