The theater was crowded, loud, and smelled so strongly of human Sesshomaru thought he might be able to taste it. When had he agreed to attend this farce? Likely when he last bedded her, as he wouldn't have agreed to it under normal circumstances.

A smile lit Kagome's face when he turned to her, and she was cheering with the other humans now that the the play was at its end and the onnagata she'd come to see bowed from the center of the stage. His costume was finely crafted silk, a bit flashy with its gold embroidery, but true to the old style as he remembered it.

Sesshomaru sighed. At least kabuki's visual aesthetic was pleasing enough.

He led her from their box as soon as possible. She covered her face with a Chinese-style fan, but several males followed her with their eyes. He pressed closer to her, and she smiled up at him. "Almost done."

Someone called out to her-- he didn't hear the insult, only saw the man slavering after his Kagome. Sesshomaru flicked his hand from the cover of his sleeve and his whip shot out in a flash; the platform the fool and his friends occupied crashed to the ground.

Kagome jumped and spun around. "What--"

He looked at his handiwork. They were alive, he suspected - pity. "Human structures are so unreliable."

She stared up at him, then rolled her eyes. "I can't take you anywhere."

That, Sesshomaru thought, would be an improvement.
