Chapter 1

On a ship.......

Kagome woke up with the sunlight filling her cabin. She blinked a few times before sitting up and rubbing her sleepy eyes. Finally, she stretched as a cat and got up.

Opening her traveling chest, she searched for a proper outfit. She found what she wanted in a pair of beige pants and a white long-sleeved shirt, open slightly in the front and showing the top of her cleavage. She then slipped brown boots at her feet and braided her long black hair.

She exited the cabin and made her way to the deck. The wind and the salty air welcomed her, along with a flash of sunlight which blinded her momentarily. When she was used back to the intense light, she searched her family with her gaze.

Her mother was standing near the bow. Her short black hair was slightly brushed up by the wind and her dress spread in flowing creases. Kagome approached her in silence, hoping to surprise her. But unfortunately, the elder woman turned around just as Kagome reached her.

"Kagome dear, you're awake" she smiled, her brown eyes shining with love. "I was going to find you."

Kagome erased the deception of her face and gave her mother her brightest smile.

"Hi mother. Did you sleep well?"

"Yes, thanks dear. Come, breakfast is ready and waiting for us."

"Hai!"

They got back inside the ship and headed to the dinning room. Kagome's father was already settled in, waiting for them. Tall, dark hair and the blue sparkling eyes of his daughter, he was rather handsome in his own way. The food was already served, and the two women sat down.

"It's a pity Souta and Ji-chan couldn't come with us" Kagome sighed, taking a bite of her toast. "They would have loved the sea."

"Dear, you know very well your grandfather is too old and your brother too young." Her mother Seiran said, smiling.

Kagome pouted.

"What, I'm only 19! Am I not too young?"

"It's for you that we're traveling this way" her father said. "You forgot?"

Kagome scowled and bite furiously her toast.

"Yeah yeah, I know. I'm getting married. Who's the guy already?"

"Naraku Onigumo"

She made a face.

"Even his name is awful. Why do I have to marry him already?"

"Because it's a good arrangement for our family."

She snorted disdainfully.

"Great. But his name is familiar. Who is he?

"A hanyou who own the biggest shipyard of the Caribbean. He is also the governor of the Shikon port."

"I see. Another pompous bastard."

"Kagome!" Seiran scowled. "A lady shouldn't use this kind of language!"

"Sorry mother, I said it without thinking."

"You will have to put on a dress when we'll be there" Her father continued. "You can't go around dressed like a man."

"But I like it! Dresses aren't practical! You can't run or climb with them."

"A Lady doesn't need to do those things" Seiran reminded.

Kagome sighed and got up.

"I have a feeling I won't like my new life. Excuse me, I'm going outside."

"Kagome! Your breakfast!"

"I'm not hungry anymore."

She exited the dinning room and went back on the deck. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, before going to the rail and leaning on it. Damn parents. Damn wedding. She didn't want to marry the guy damn it! She had heard rumors on him. Bad rumors. He was a Traficant under the cover of a governor. He was cruel, sadistic and definitely a bastard. She feared him and what he planned to do with her. After all, he had been the one to ask her hand to her parents. They should have refuse. But no, they cherished prestige and wealth more than their own daughter.

She prayed Kami that something happened during this journey to prevent this wedding.

Another ship not so far away..................

"I'm boored."

"Oh shut up Inuyasha! You already said it twice!"

"But Kikyou! I AM bored!"

"And so? It's not like I can help it."

"I know! I'm gonna talk to Sess and see when he plan to act!"

Kikyou quickly caught the hanyou's sleeve.

"Are you crazy? He's just gonna beat you up! Like two days ago!"

Inuyasha scowled.

"Feh, he was just angry! Not my faults we haven't find this ship yet!"

The woman released him and sighed.

"I know. He should have asked me to locate it in the first place. It would have been faster."

Inuyasha sat cross-legged on the flood, his back to the wall of the cabin.

"He's too proud to not try by himself before asking for help" He said. "But in the end, you found it."

"We should reach it later this afternoon" Kikyou nodded.

"Why this ship already?"

She smacked him on the head.

"Itai! What was that for wench?"

"Baka! It's the fourth time you ask! Will it ever stay in that thick skull of yours?"

"Well, sorry for being slow."

Kikyou sighed again. Jeez, sometimes she wanted to throw him overboard.

"This ship carries the daughter of a rich family who's to marry the bastard Naraku." She explained again. "We take the girl, ask for a ransom and after... well, we leave her somewhere."

"Oookay. But, it's just for the money or also to annoy Naraku?"

"Don't know. Probably both. That fucking hanyou is always bothering us."

"Yeah, and Sess has a personal grudge against him. How do you think the girl will be?"

"Don't know either. The rumor says she is beautiful and has a lot of qualities, but we'll see by ourselves. I just hope she isn't a petty precious little princess."

"Right. Hey, isn't it lunch time? Come, I'm starving."

Kikyou smiled, shaking her head.

"My my, you're such a pig!"

"Well, that's why you love me, don't you?"

"I guess so. Let's go."
