Meditation is an art. The greatest mikos before me have connected with their reki and their soul. I have never finished it but I’ve come close. One glimpse of light in the dark that bent and swirled around me. In that moment I was untouchable, I was complete. Later that day we I found out why. We found Kikyo lying near the well. Her souls where leaving her and she was fighting to remain. She looked up at me and when we went to touch her she glowed like a blinding light. That’s where things got weird.
Kikyo changed; it was like nothing any of us had ever seen. Her body floated and then suddenly became part of mine. I had the rest of my soul back but I also had Kikyo. She was like a guardian, guiding my actions.
‘Strange I was under the impression that you where supposed to be meditating. Searching for the inner light. Using the power of your soul, materialising your reki or maybe you now we could start by you admitting you are a spirit wielder, a kami conductor, hell I don’t care if you call yourself a fucking super hero but you need to snap out of it.’
“Speak of the devil.” Kagome muttered.
‘Devil? Oh and I thought you were starting to like me. All my crushed dreams. We could have been bffs or whatever that dim witted girl Eri called it. You know I honestly had no idea the future could be so depressing. I believe that evolution or whatever your science book said it was is wrong. It is the complete opposite.’
‘Dear kami above! Kikyo! If I ever knew you were so... so.... so much like me! God no wonder Inuyasha though I was you. Clay obviously didn’t agree with you, compared to the clay miko I knew your impossible!’
‘I can’t see how he mixed us up. I’m obviously more fun. Though you probably can’t understand that since I spent my borrowed time sulking. When you’re dead it doesn’t seem so much fun, I mean honestly who enjoys being dead.’
‘So why the change? I hate to break it to you but you are still dead. You do know that, right.”
‘Ha ha ha ha oh god I know that. It’s just more fun messing with your head. I treat you like I would my sister. Trust me, Kaede was thoroughly tormented by the time I was chosen to be the almighty shikon miko.’
‘Okay now I feel sorry for her. It’s like unleashing the blob on Rin.’
‘Blob?’
‘After your time.’
“You know sitting there and staring at nothing while making wild hand gestures is the fifth sign of madness.”
“Inuyasha what have I said about sneaking up on me when I’m trying to connect with the inner light and fight off an annoying pain in the butt DEAD miko who does not comprehend the meaning of silence. S-I-L-E-N-C-E, seven bloody letters! I don’t know what oxford’s definition of it is but in my fucking book the definition kinda goes like this. Silence, the rare and sometimes awkward moment with the absence of sound. The lack of interference in the form of sound from living, dead and in some cases imaginary figures created by the minds of those suffering mental harm.”
“I just wanted to tell you that Koga was here and not asking for you for once in the mangy wolf’s life. He wants me to come with him on an official visit to my brother. Seems the old dog needs help. Rin has fallen ill and he is asking for representatives from all the villages in his lands to come to his shiro and give information on what they know of the sickness. Seems none of his healers can save her.” Inuyasha replied as he walked up behind Kagome. Laying his hands on her shoulders he sighed. “Edo needs a representative and Kaede asked me to request you go. The village needs a representative and you’re the strongest miko this area has seen since Kikyo. Plus it is Rin.”
“Does she really need to ask? It would be an honour though I do worry about Rin. When do we leave?” kagome said as she stood up. “Wait let me ask my boss if I can have the time off.”
‘Well I think that’s a stupid question. I have after all dead. What am I going to do? Haunt you in your dreams?’
“You could haunt Sesshomaru’s.”
‘That would only piss him off and that’s something no one wants to do.’
“You’re dead.”
‘You’re not. I can still feel what you do. It’s so confusing.’
“Forgot about that one. Oh well pack your bags Kikyo we are going to the Western place.”
“You know I hate that.” Inuyasha grumbled.
“Sorry Inuyasha but honestly it’s not my fault. Then again maybe I did something in a past life which made the kamis punish me with her constant ramblings in my head for this life. And I know, I know. Me talking to myself creeps you out. Does it help that I’m talking to Kikyo.” Kagome replied as she started walking towards the village.
‘And which past life are you referring to?’
“Ha ha what Kikyo have to say to that one?” Inuyasha asked repressing a snort.
“No wonder you and her were so in love. You’re each other’s perfect match, each a half of one annoying force. I’m still working out if it’s a force of good or evil.” Kagome said as she walked back from the clearing near the village that she had been meditating in. “Come you two, the western shiro awaits.”
