Wait for Me

Hi everyone! This story is for The Lovely Miko's prompt Heartbreak!  Let me know your thoughts, though I MUST warn you, it is sad.

This story is writen to the lyrics of "Wait for me" by Theory of a Deadman. This song came on my pandora when I was reading the challenge and it just hit me and I had to write it.

Now on with the story:

                Kagome stood in a room that felt too small, despite the fact that it was ample in space. Her mind began to wander to days of old. Days where happiness filled every waking moment. She smiled softly as her mind took her back to times she spent with him.

You are not alone tonight,

Imagine me there by your side.

She remembered the first night he had stayed by her, the way she had childishly put a pillow between them so he wouldn't come over to her side. The way his golden eyes had sparkled so beautifully with mischief, and no less than ten minutes that pillow had disappeared and his strong arms had been pulling her close to him. It was the first night of many that she slept in his embrace, a feeling that she would never forget.

It's so hard to be here so far away from you

I'm counting the days till I'm finally done

I'm counting them down, yeah, one by one

She remembered the first time he told her he loved her, it had been the day she had lost her grandfather and mother to an accident and she had spent the night crying into his shirt, letting him rock her back and forth until she could cry no more. He had promised he would never leave her because she was his everything, the only one he would ever love. She had felt invincible, and he had helped her move passed that painful moment in time.

But it helps me on those lonely nights

It's the one thing that keeps me alive

She remembered their wedding. It had been small, only her brother and his brother had attended. She had stood in her white dress, staring into his eyes as they bound their souls for all eternity. He had kissed her so gently, so tenderly, it had been a moment of happiness that would forever be etched into her heart. She closed her eyes, letting the tears slip from her eyes.

Knowing that you wait for me,

Ever so patiently,

"Wait for me, Sesshomaru." She whispered, her words catching in the sob that threatened to come out. She moved forward, her eyes brimming with tears that were gently falling down her cheeks.

And you wait for me

Ever so patiently

Yeah, you're everything I've ever dreamed of having

And its everything I need from you just knowing that you wait for me

Kagome placed her hand on the casket, gazing into his peaceful face. The tears were pouring from her heartbroken eyes.

"Wait for me, Sesshomaru, I will be with you again." She fell to her knees, her hand still on the casket. She felt the dam within her crumble. "Wait for me, wait for me!" The others looked on, their own hearts breaking for the young woman who had lost her husband. To her, no one else was in the room. It was just her standing with him once more. He was holding her close, his golden eyes shining with emotions only she could see. His voice was a whisper on the wind so light she almost didn't hear, but her heart knew his words.

"I will wait for you, Kagome."
