Chapter 1

Imaginary Friend - The Twinkling Voice

The soft twinkling whisper brushed past his ear again. “Hey Sesshy!!! What are you doing?” As usual, his first instinct was to look around. But of course, there was only a beautiful lake surrounded by tall trees, rocks and small shells. “Nothing much... I am trying to find something to make a weapon so I can be strong like papa Inutaisho.”  He replied, concentrating on his work once more. “What about that one? That looks like a pretty strong branch.” Somehow he knew exactly what she meant. It was almost as if she was right there pointing at the branch.

“Nope it needs to be less wide. If it is too thick, I won’t be able to hold it.” He replied earnestly. Her voice always sent a nice shiver through his spine, made his heart quicken with anticipation and happiness. After all, when she talked, it always made him cheer up. She gave him advice. And she was his imaginary friend. “Mine” he nearly purred happily. But he stopped himself. He, future lord of the Western Lands, son of Inunotaisho would not purr. “Yours,” came the cheerful laughing reply.
