Chapter 1 – Kagome’s Decision
Chapter 1 – Kagome’s Decision
First and foremost, I do not own anything to do with Inuyasha.
A/N: This is my very first story ever! I have already written a few chapters as I have been deciding if I was really going to share. It may start out a bit slow, but hopefully it picks up to everyone’s enjoyment. Bear with me people! Please share any thoughts or concerns. They are most welcome! Here we go….
Kagome lay in the old Miko’s hut and stared at the straw mat covering the exit, musing internally on what she would do what decision she would finally make. She was tired of wondering when the hanyou would make up his mind, tired of knowing that he couldn’t.
If she were honest with herself, she had always known that he never could and if he did, she would not be his, she would not be the prize he chose for himself and she wondered why she hadn’t moved on long ago.
Her heart knew better than her logic, as she realized she had moved on emotionally, but she had yet to accept that fact. The more she thought, the more she realized today had to be the day.
Kagome’s reality has been 5 years of strife, hardship, friendship, love, (unrequited love), and an extremely large helping of all around bullshit.
Kagome wasn’t throwing herself a pity party, she just wasn’t sure how much more she was expected to take, how much more her weary soul could handle before any semblance of who she really was disappeared completely.
She knew she would feel bad if she up and left the hanyou, as she promised to stay by his side so long ago, but as the saying goes, hindsight’s a bitch, and that was a promise made by a little girl.
She hoped Inuyasha would understand that she needed to do what she had to do for the woman she was now.
Kagome and Inuyasha had a huge secret that they were hiding from everyone they knew and loved, one she was grateful would never be brought to light as she wouldn’t be able to handle the looks of pity and sadness she knew she would receive from her friends.
They loved her, this she knew, so it was to be expected.
Sighing loudly, Kagome decided it was time to get on with it so she rolled herself out of her comfy sleeping bag and noticed Kaede, Sango and Miroku waking as well.
Inuyasha was nowhere to be found, but Kagome was ok with that, she knew where he was and it really didn’t bother her in the least.
She was letting go, today!
She was determined to complete her duty to the jewel and the friends she called family. With her decision made, she would finally be free of all the emotional blockage she had piled on herself over these last few years.
Still continuing along with her musings, she moved to the center of the hut and started a fire in the fire pit to get breakfast going.
Sango asked if she wanted help as she noticed Kagome shuffling around the hut gathering the items she needed, but she told Sango she was fine and she would be back shortly, she was only walking to the river nearby to fill a pot with water.
Once she returned, she placed the pot on the fire rack she had Inuyasha and Miroku install for the elder Miko, as well as a pot with last night’s remaining stew.
As she started to prepare the rice and heat the stew, she returned to her thoughts on how her decision would affect her friends, she had to make sure they knew she loved them, and her decision to leave had absolutely no bearing on those feelings or the importance that their friendship and love had on her.
Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kaede, and Kilala were her family, they were her sister, her brother, her son, her grandmother, and her most trusted and irreplaceable companions through this often times hellish journey, and she could not have asked for better.
