He Is We - Kiss It All Better
Sesshomaru sat down on the narrow bed of the cell. Running his fingers through his short-cut silver strands he remembered. There had been good times.
He had met Kagome through his half-brother. She was a friend of Inuyasha.
Seeing her for the first time, the normally indifferent man knew he could never be cured of this love.
The courtship had been difficult at first. She was warm and loving and open. He had always been cold and withdrawn. But she wasn't thrown off, she tried teasing him out. And Inuyasha had disapproved at first. But when he saw how happy Kagome seemed and how his brother bloomed up... he accepted it.
Sesshomaru remembered every single one of her smiles. Each laugh, each kiss, each hug was engraved into his mind. Though she wasn't there anymore.
It was about a week after he had proposed. Classic dinner, he had even asked her family for her hand beforehand. She had accepted and cried tears of joy. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him. But it turned out that the rest of her life was a ery short time.
When they walked through the park it had happened. It had become something they did every now and then, walking through the nearby park in the evening, arm in arm, simply enjoying the company and closeness
“You!”
He had looked up, his golden eyes narrowing at the shady man in front of them.
“Give me you money!” the man had yelled.
Sesshomaru wasn't aware of the gun before it went off. Kagome had stepped forward to ask the shady figure something. But now she staggered and Sesshomaru caught her bleeding form before she hit the ground.
“Kagome...” he murmured, searching for the wound.
She coughed weakly. “It hurts..”
He quietly cursed when he saw the patch of blood growing on her chest. The man who shot her had already run away.
“Kagome. Stay with me. I will call an ambulance. You need to stay awake.” he quickly said, his golden eyes desperate as he fumbled with his cell.
“It hurts.” she whimpered. “Kiss it all better, Sess.”
Tears began streaming down his face. “Stay with me.” he pleaded, kissing her face.
“I don't want to go.” she softly said, reaching up to cup his cheek with a shaky hand.
“You won't.” he said, calling the ambulance. “Everything will be fine.”
Kagome felt her heart stock and felt the blood oozing from her chest. Somehow she knew she wouldn't survive this.
Sesshomaru made the call and the medics promised to be there in a few minutes. So he could only helplessly hold her as she bled out, pleading with her to keep her eyes open, to stay with him.
“It's-” she whimpered. “It's not your fault.”
“Kagome, stay with me. You won't die.” he shuddered.
“Kiss it better. Kiss it all better.” she begged and he pressed shaking kisses all over her face.
“Kagome..” he whispered pleadingly as he reached her lips.
She returned his soft kiss and when he left her pale lips, wet gold locking onto dulling blue, a sob escaped him. “Kagome...”
The medics had been too late. She died in his arms, right there in the park. The reanimation tries had been in vain.
Sesshomaru's life was dulled. Not even Inuyasha's tries to annoy him worked. Not even his father could pull him out.
Only the thought of revenge made him strong. One evening, after he found out the identity of the murderer, he took his own gun and went out to kill.
He was arrested and put to prison. But he didn't care. He wasn't really alive. Only the memories of her kept him breathing.
All he wanted was to join her.
