A Demon's Angel by Moonwind
The Start Of History
A wintry breeze howls,
A white little cub collapses on the snow,
Lost and afraid,
It prepares to die.
Hungry birds of the air
Comes to feast on it.
A woman in labor shouted in pain. After a few hours they heard a child's cry.
"Wahhhhhh!"
"It is not human!" the midwife said out loud. The *girl-child indeed wasn't. It was a she but it had dark black wings. A hybrid--everybody in the room knew. It was half-angel and half-human. In the race called Dyriads, it was rare but possible.
Dyriads descended from the half-divine beings, the mortal angels. Even if they are mortal and are destined to die, they still have the divine powers that are provided by the Shinkon no Tama. As long as it is not destroyed, it gives power to mortal-angels. However, the powers are divided. Some have greater than the others and some have very little.
Their black wings are a sign of their being mortals too. These angels can never reach heaven until they die--the same law passed on to normal mortals. Ever since the Trojans invaded and occupied Dyriad the hybrids decreased in number. But some married human mortals called the Dyriads. This caused human or mortal desendants but the blood of hybrids was still there. Everybody hoped for a savior one day--one who can set them free.
But the hybrids are powerless without the Shinkon no Tama, the stone *Kami-sama gave them. A family, a descendant of the hybrids, keeps and hides this. The Shinkon no Tama have been passed from family to family in order to save the stone from being destroyed. All who keeps this sacrfices their safety and lives to keep it safe.
The Trojans are demons. They are afraid of the Shinkon no Tama's power and all the hybrids that can use its power. These demons are very powerful, more powerful than most hybrids. They yearn for more lands and power. But they fear the Prophecy which states that: "A hybrid will rise to free the slaves. Wild it is, untamed is it's power. But when unleashed, darkness will fall and the light will prevail." This is the reason why they wanted to kill all hybrids. To stop the prophecy from comming true.
"We have to kill the child," the midwife stated once more. She felt pity for the child. So young yet given a curse.
"No! Don't kill it please!" cried its mother.
"Would you rather see her killed when she grows older!? Kami-sama! Let her die now, feeling a little pain. A quick death rather than see her suffer more when she grows older!" the grandfather argued.
"But she can live hiding those wings! Let my daughter live please, otou-san!"
"Very few they are yet less are still alive. You are her mother," the grandfather said. "And you will be responsible for her. Let her live," the grandfather said in a defeated voice. "Kami-sama, at least let her live her life till she grows old." he said out loud.
"She'll live," the mother said happily yet tiredly. "Her name will be Kagome. Yes, she will be called Kagome."
In a place far far away, wolves howled. "The time has come. The prophecy has begun."
