A Stroll in Autumn
Dreamer
By: Warm-Ice
She walked innocently through the path that nature seemingly sorted out
only to invite her. It was the middle of autumn and all leaves from the trees surrounding her were crisp and beautiful. She walked in silence down
the path where trees where aligned and dried leaves fell slowly and
gracefully. A chilly wind flew her way and she held herself closer, ignoring her unruly hair which was seemingly flowing wildly with the wind.
Kagome Higurashi...
A sigh came from her lips as she remembered everything that had occurred in
the miniscule amount of time she had gone to summer camp.
That summer, Kagome had volunteered to join in summer camp for their school. Along with her were a few classmates and younger competitors. She had volunteered in many more school summer activities, but none had held
the more unexpected experiences than last summer.
She walked on wearing a brown colored coat with white boots and black pants. She reached back to capture her wavy hair and tame it onto her left
shoulder.
In summer camp, she had met countless men. It was totally unexpected that their schools greatest competitor was an All Boy's School called, Havierya. Every boy there acted as if they had never seen a girl before whenever she
was around. There she met a friendly boy named Hojo. She liked Hojo's
friendly personality so they had begun to be friends.
Another great competitor of the school was an international school called
Clan. There she had met a charming boy whose name was Kouga.
She looked down at the ground and felt her heart sink. 'Kouga...' she thought
sadly.
Kouga somehow gave off a sense of confidence, making Kagome lightly
interested in him. They seem to have 'clicked' and they kept in contact with each other. After the four day summer camp, they had gone home with
awards and trophies.
Kouga soon started to court Kagome; saying sweet things through the phone
and cell phone, their only way of communication. And being the young innocent little girl Kagome had been, she began falling for him: slowly,
day by day. But that soon changed...
She remembered exactly how it happened:
"Hello?" Kagome said taking the phone to her ear. "Kagome..." came the
voice of Kouga.
"Hey Kouga! What's up?" she said happily. "I think I'm in love with you..." said the serious Kouga. Kagome faltered then, not knowing how to react to
his revelation. "Uh...t-thanks, Kouga-kun..." she replied uncomfortably.
"Is that all you have to say?" Kouga seemed dissatisfied. "What do you want me to say?" Kagome said helplessly. She couldn't possibly say she loves him
too for she wasn't exactly sure of her own feelings. And they had only
known each other for 2 months.
"Never mind." He said, seemingly irate. "What's this I hear about you and Hojo?" he asked.
"Hojo? What about him?" she asked. Hojo had also kept in touch with her and she had become good friends with the boy. Hojo had turned out to be a good friend and a great story teller.
"You talk to him on the phone too?" he said. "Yeah, and? What wrong with that?!" there he goes again: getting jealous for no reason at all. "I don't want you talking to him." he said almost threateningly.
Kagome became confused now. Never had Kouga been this intense before. Sure, she heard that he gave every student of Havierya that looked at me a death glare but she chose not to believe it. After all, Kouga was really a sweet boy. "Kouga-kun, you can't tell me who I will and won't talk to on the phone!" Jeez! He was acting as if he was already her boyfriend. And he was still in the process of being a suitor.
"Kagome, I need to use the phone." said Mrs. Higurashi. Kagome quickly obeyed her mother and put her attention back onto the receiver. "Oh, hey, Kouga-kun, I have to go. Momma's going to use the phone." and with that she said goodbye.
Her thoughts were interrupted when a child ran in front of her and fell. Kagome quickly came to the child's aid, helping her onto her feet and dusting her clothes off. "Are you alright, little girl?" she asked with concern in her eyes. The little girl smiled a toothy grin and nodded. Kagome immediately relaxed and straightened her figure. "You be careful, now, you hear?" she said as the girl ran along. The girl looked back and waved goodbye as she held onto the hand of an old man with gray hair and glasses.
"Rin-sama, you know you should never run off!" reprimanded the old man to the child who was too engulfed in waving goodbye to Kagome. Kagome smiled a small smile and waved her glove-clad hand goodbye.
