Eternity in Darkness by eskimo_angel
Chapter One
"Tonight. Tonight is the night. No backing out now, no way, I've gone this far...I will NOT regret this," a quiet, feminine voice said confidently.
That melodious voice belonged to a girl sitting on top of a cliff, with dim rays of the golden sun shining down on her, giving her a surreal look. She has milky white hair that ended at her waist, with streaks of electric blue framing her smooth, gorgeous porcelain-like face. She has sparkling, sapphire eyes that go with her hair, and a pair of rosy lustrous lips. All she had on was a black satin, spaghetti strapped nightgown that stopped above her knees.
On each side of her shoulder blade there rests a delicate, raven-black wing. Both stretched out, in the opposite directions. Enclosed around her hand was a bracelet that has the letters K-A-G-O-M-E etched onto it.
All of a sudden a loud, but soothing sound interrupted the silence.
By instinct, Kagome got into a defensive stance, but relaxed once she saw who the intruder was. "Oh, it's just you, Keyo. Don't worry I'll be fine, I promise," she said while stratching the still purring feline's chin.
Kagome took a good, long look at Keyo.
Keyo was in her transformed stage. She was as big as lion, which was 10 times the size of her original self. She had two shimmering silver stripes on each side of her naturally, sleek, ebony black body. Her eyes were ethereal ice blue that blazed blood red whenever she got mad, which wasn't very often. Her claws were like sharp knives, one tiny stratch will make you bleed for at least 2 days, but she, of course, would be mindful with her deadly weapons when around her owner.
A minute or two later, Kagome stood up and drifted into the darkening atmosphere all the while thinking,' Please forgive me Sesshou-kun.'
~Flashback~
Naraku, the prince of Darkness, had her trapped against the wall with his body. He pushed back the hood of his baboon hide to let her see his strikingly pale complexion. He had silky black hair that matches up with his crimson red eyes. He had an air of malice and trickery that could be sensed a mile away.
"Kagome, be a good girl. If you help me bring down Kami, I will get you the one thing your heart desires the most, Predestination, the ultimate sword...the sword of Destiny. That Kami, she's been ruling for too long. All the Gods and Goddesses should have a new leader...a dark one."
It is true, thought Kagome, only HE can retrieve that for me. No one else is able to survive the flames of misery. O, why did the sword have to be in there??
"You can rule with me if you like... be my queen. I won't even mind if you still keep Sesshoumaru, your supposed enemy. You are the Angel of Darkness you know, shame on you for falling in love with the Angel of Light." Naraku's voice was calming and gentle as he licked the shell of her ear trying to be seductive to persuade her to do his dirty work.
That was all that was needed in order for her to cave and he knew it. You just don't work with someone all your life and not know how they function.
"Good," the Prince said with a sinister smile on his flawless face, "Now, all you have to do is.................."
~ End of flashback ~
Bathing in the moon's eerie but beautiful glow, there stood Kagome, as still as stone, at her appointed destination, reassuring herself over what she will do.
Suddenly warm arms wrapped around her waist, without turning around she already knew who it was. Kagome twisted around and saw an all-too alluring, tanned face with sandy blond hair and a breathtaking body covered by translucent white material. Just like her, two perfect wings were attached to his body, but instead of black like a bat's, it was pearl white. Warm eyes of golden honey were gazing at her.
Unable to resist those glossy lips Kagome leaned down for a kiss. When Kagome felt his lips upon hers, feeling genuinely content in weeks, she tilted her head to deepen it. He welcomed the action greedily. During the kiss, one of his hands traveled up and intertwined with her hair. A moment later they parted, leaving each other breathless.
"Come." With that, Kagome removed herself, spread her wings, and soared over the glistening cerulean sea, heading towards a hidden cave.
"So why are we here?" asked Sesshoumaru curiously, his echoes bouncing off the curved walls. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I hope you can forgive me", Kagome responded solemnly.
"What's the matter? You can tell me. Is Naraku forcing you to do something you are opposed to? I know you don't want to be the dark angel, and you don't have to--"
"We've been over this before. I don't want to be a light angel. Everyone knows that evil always overrides good, and you know how I feel about being vulnerable."
"But you are strong, Kagome"
"No, I'm not. I need to be stronger", the angel of Darkness replied while walking out of the cave. Sesshoumaru followed her but when he reached the entrance an invisible force blocked his way.
"What the..." "I've casted a spell that lets people enter but not exit. And since I am the caster I am unaffected" "Kagome, please open the barrier," pleaded Sesshoumaru. Suddenly tearing up, Kagome whispered mournfully "Sorry". Weeping, Kagome heard her name ringing in her ear whilst she ascended up into Heaven, where the Prince was watching her every move.
"MWAHAHAHA," roared Naraku as he and his minions devoured the God of Thunder brutally. Kagome was standing near the heaven's gate watching with a look of dismay on her face. Naraku tossed Predestination over to her. "Fight," commanded the Prince.
A minor god charged at Kagome. When he thought he had her, he brought his sword down, but Kagome step sided just in time. Not wanting to be killed, Kagome brought forth the pulsing sword surrounded by a neon pink glow and striked the air. All Gods in a 10-meter radius vanished into thin air.
Stepping on a bleeding Kami was pure evil himself, "If you give up now, I might be easier on you when you become my slave...mwaha HAHAH MWAHA---" He felt pain and backed away from Kami.
"What the---," he said when he touched the red liquid oozing down his chest. "Good timing," Kagome shouted to the sky. Naraku looked up and saw Keyo hovering in mid air with Sesshoumaru beside her. He felt pain again and spun around. There, he saw the sword of Destiny piercing the flesh that covered his tainted heart. "Die," Kagome whispered dangerously.
Unexpectedly the sword started to move on it's own accord. Fire, Water, Gold, Wood, and Earth – the 5 elements of the Universe - started to burst out of the sword, all aiming at the Devil and his underlings "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH", screamed Naraku in agony as he disintegrated. What looked like the end is but only the start... and they all knew that.
Using Predestination, Kagome reconstructed all the Gods that had been slaughtered by the hands of Satan, and healed all wounds.
Kami seeing that Kagome, the Angel of Darkness--their sworn enemy, restore all that was destroyed by her master was greatly impressed. "Dark Angel, why do you work for evil when you have goodness at heart?" "I do not wish to be weak." "Well, now that you have Predestination, would you rather to become the Angel of Love?" As she nodded her head eagerly, a bright light engulfed her.
When the light disappeared, standing there was a completely altered Kagome. Her wings were no longer black, but white like snow. Instead of blue streaks there was pink. In place of her simple, black nightgown was a long, white, sleeveless dress with fancy gold frills at the edges. Keyo had changed too. Now, she was silver with blonde stripes, looking a lot less hostile.
"Thank you," Kagome said gratefully. Walking to where Milo was drooling over her, she said to him, "You know, you could have came a bit earlier. What took you so long?" "I was busy admiring your beauty." Kagome's laughter sounded like tinkering bells. Then Sesshoumaru swept Kagome up bridal-style, and he spread his elegant wings.
Together, they floated towards the golden splash of dawn.
