Chapter Escape and Freedom

*Southern Lands*

Kagome walked into the dim room lit only by a fire. She sat in a chair closest to the window and looked out. Her parents, Lord and Lady of the Southern Lands, had called her into the room. They needed to talk to her about her future mate. She knew it was going to be a long night even without the talk.

Her parents walked into the room. She stood to show her respect and waited to sit back down until they were seated.

Her mother wore a long gown that draped to the floor. It was a red gown, and went well with her raven black hair. Which was braided and tied up into a tight bun at the back of her neck. She wore many golden necklaces around her neck, golden bracelets, and rings on her fingers. Her eyes were a deep black, her face had three black slashes on each cheek, and a red bow an arrow marked her forehead. Over all she was a very beautiful demon.

Her father wore the suit of a lord. (AN- I just wanted to say that I have no clue what the outfits they wore were called. I just know Sessie's outfit (which I might add made him look even better) So yeah. Work with me people.) It had a red top to it and white baggy paints. Tied to his waste was a sword. He had blue eyes, black hair, three black slashes on his face, and the same bow an arrow on his forehead. He was quite handsome.

"Now Kagome, you have come of the age to find a mate." Said her father, Soutain.

"I know," Grumbled Kagome, "Do I have to, though?"

"Yes you do," stated her mother, Airinoku, "It is family tradition to find a mate at 16. I did."

"Your mothers right, Kagome, you must find a mate. I know you might not want to-"

"No not might I don't want a mate! I want to be my own person. Is that to much to ask?"

"Yes it is. Kagome, stop acting like a child. You're a woman now, and you better act like it. We want you to be happy that's al-"

"NO THAT'S NOT ALL!!! I feel like I'm a puppet around you. Like you're controlling my every move. Why can't I just be free? I want to be normal. I want to fall in love with the man I mate. I want to get dirty, and have no cares in the world. I want to be a normal girl! I want a normal life. I hate my life! I hate it! You don't love me. NO ONE DOES!" Shouted Kagome.

"KAGOME, never raise your voice at us. We do love you. We don't want you to be upset. We care about your future, and want to be in it." Said her father.

"Like hell you do."

"Young lady, if you are going to show such disrespect then maybe you should be punish like a normal girl," Shouted her mother. "A normal girl, I spit on the subject. You're royalty, and you better start acting like it. Royalty never thinks of such dishonorable thoughts."

"Well then maybe I'm not royalty. I never wanted to be anyway, but I know how to solve that problem." Retorted Kagome.

With that Kagome broke the window open, and using ungodly speed, jumped through the window. She landed on the ground, and sprinted for her life. She could hear the distant call of her name, but it was fading. She was free, and nothing was stopping her. She jumped over the castle wall, and kept running. Her heart was racing, nothing could go wrong!

Kagome ran like this for a long time. Soon her feet were so tired that she could barely walk. She was coming close to a village. She knew because the scent of humans was getting strong. One of her abilities as a demon was to change forms. She used it and turned into a miko. She would have used this ability to escape secretly but even if she changed shape her scent was still the same. So her parents could tell it was she.

She walked into the village, and could feel all the stares she was getting. She acted like she didn't, and walked into the Inn. She walked up to the counter, and asked the man for a room. At first he seemed entrance by her beauty, and then he took her hands.

"I'm Miroku, and I was wondering if you would do the honor of bearing my child?" he asked.

Kagome looked at him confused, and took her hands away from him. At first she had no idea what to do, but then again she didn't have to do anything. For just as he had asked another woman had walked in and hit him over the head.

"Sorry, but sometimes he can be a real pervert. You'll have to excuse him. By the way my name is Sango." She added.

"It's nice to meet you. My name is Kagome. I just hope that your friend doesn't ask again or next time I don't think he will be able to move his lips because they will have been ripped off his face." She said with a joking tone.

"Don't worry if he does I'll do it for you." Said Sango.

I like her already; I hope we become good friends. I've never had a friend. I've always wanted one.

"I'll take you to your room." Sango said.

"Thank you so much."

"Your welcome."

Sango took Kagome down the hall and turned left and into a small corridor. Here she pointed out her room and unlocked it for her. She gave Kagome a nod and walked away.

The room was small, but cozy. It had a small fireplace, a small futon, and a chair by the window. Kagome had always wanted a room like this. She hated her old room. It was to big, and empty. She knew she would be found eventually, but until then she was going to live life to the foulest. Maybe if she was lucky they wouldn't find her... and she really would be free.

Kagome crawled on the bed and fell asleep think about what might happen...

~Back at the castle~

"Why would she run off like this? We were good parents. We feed her, clothed her, and I thought we kept her happy too." Cried Airinoku.

"We did. She just wanted something we couldn't give her. We WILL find her though. You don't have to worry. I have soldiers combing all the lands. She couldn't have gotten very far." Said Soutain.

"I hope so..."

~Back at the Inn~

Kagome woke up when the sun's rays touched her face. At first she thought she was dreaming, but remember last nights events. She quickly got out of bed. She got dressed, and went out looking for Sango. She didn't have trouble finding her because she was at the front counter.

"Hey Sango, did you sleep well?" she asked.

"Yeah I did. What about you?"

"Fine. I was wondering where the bathing area was?"

"Oh its down the hall to the right. You can't miss it. Hey um Miroku is going on his shift pretty soon would you mind if I joined you?"

"No not at all I could use the company. I'll wait for you."

"Thanks."

A few minutes later Miroku walked through the door. He looked really tired and was mumbling things to himself. Sango walked around him, and walked straight to Kagome. Then they both walked down the hall to their destination. Locking the door when they both walked in.

They got undressed and slipped into the steaming water. It felt so good. It was like all her troubles had been washed away...

"So, Kagome, what brings you here."

"Um..." Think Kagome think. "My uncle is in a village close to here, and I'm going to visit him."

"Well I hope you have a nice visit with him. A lot of the villagers have been talking about you lately. I mean we haven't had a miko in awhile."

"Yeah I understand. Well, I'm sorry to cut our visit short, but I have to go. I want to make good timing to see my uncle. Thanks for everything! Bye Sango."

Kagome got out of the water, dried off, and put on her clothes. She waved a final goodbye to Sango, and left.

She walked to the counter and tried to pay Miroku for the stay, but he said her beauty already paid for it. She blushed and waved goodbye.

When she stepped out into the village it felt like everyone was staring at her again, which they were. She smiled at them, and walked into the woods, where she vanished behind the brush. She decided not to change back, just incase anyone had followed her.

She walked for a while, but stopped when she heard footsteps. She stopped and looked around, and saw men walk out from behind the bushes.

"Now what have we here?" the leader of the men asked.

Kagome paid no mind to them because they were no threat and walked on.

"You better learn who your betters are wench, and not walk from them." he said with a growl.

"Well I am obviously your better so I can keep walking. As for you, you better stop. Maybe even bow since I am that much better then you." Replied Kagome. She knew she had hit a nerve there but wasn't scared.

"How dare you. I'll teach you who's better!" he shouted.

He charged at her and tried to grab her. She quickly moved out of the way, and he almost ran into a tree. He turned around and grabbed her from behind. When he had hold of her arms he pulled them tight behind her back. Kagome stood there not even fazed. The whole thing was really funny to her, and she burst out laughing.

"Why do you laugh when you are at our mercy?" he growled.

"Because first of all you are at my mercy, and second of all your about to be beaten by a girl." She chuckled.

With that she twisted her arm out of his grasp, and jumped out of his reach. She then jumped at him and clawed him into pieces. His companions looked at her in utter horror, and fled. This only aroused her more because of her instincts she loved a good chase. She chased them all down and killed them. She then licked their blood of her hands. She then changed back to her normal form.
