chapter 1: Run!

Shippou's POV~*~*~*~

I clung to mama-er Kagome. I have been wanting to call her mama for a while now. She protected me and loved me as her son, and so it was only natural right?

At that moment Kagome was running really fast, the scent of blood came up to my nose and I looked behind us. Blood was left behind where Kagome's feet landed. Mama was hurt. I looked at her feet, she had run the bottoms of her shoes right off! But then again we had been running for several days now, only stopping every so often for food and a little water from the stream we followed.

What were we running from? InuYasha. InuYasha had attacked Kagome, for the jewel she wore around her neck. She saw me, and tried to protect me from InuYasha when she first was attacked. I tried to help but InuYasha was scary. I'm only a kid you know!

When we stopped we talked about each other, telling each other what happened in our pasts and what we liked to do. I tried to get her to stop so she could heal her feet but she wouldn't listen. Just kept running.

"Shippou," She said, gasping for air. "Shippou, I want you to run following the river, I will catch up in a few days. Hide after running for a day. I want to lead inuYasha off course."

"B-but Kagome!" I said, afraid my new mama would die like my other one had.

"No buts! RUN!" She said and threw me a ways away and I ran. I ran nonstop that day.

Kagome's POV~*~*~*~

I turned and ran over some rocks that were in the stream, making a sort of pathway over the river. I ran in that direction for an hour, then ran around some trees for a bit then followed my foot steps back to the river, careful to step back in my own puddles of blood. I then dove into the river and swam.

The stream would wash away my blood right? It was worth a shot. I swam for several days, everyonce and a while popping out of the water and calling for Shippou. My boy. I now considered him my son, and I knew he was looking to me as his mother.

At the end of the third day Shippou and I were reunited and he put healing herbs on my feet. He had waited for me and made some paste with the herbs just for my feet. He also made bandages out of some extra clothes he had hidden away in his fur vest. After he did this I picked him up and ran again.

InuYasha's POV~*~*~*~

Damn that girl. She tricked me. She left a blood trail for me to follow just so I would get off track and get lost. I began to sniff around some more and eventually found out her little game, days later. Damn her. She swam. If only my brother hadn't have shown up I wouldn't have been distracted from my tracking! Feh. No matter. I'll find her.

Sesshoumaru's POV~*~*~*~*~

I followed the girl, keeping an eye on the orphaned kitsune called mama several days ago. She let him, even smiled when he did so. She kissed his nose and ran while I had InuYasha distracted. Smart girl, knowing how to get my idiot brother off her trail buying her time.

Why did the Kitsune call her mama? Surely she isnt demon. And the kitsune was of pureblood, prince of the northern lands. Where were his parents? Surely the heir of the northern lands wasn't banished? What happened?

Shippou's POV~*~*~*~*~

Mama was running again. If she kept this up she would get an infection in her feet.

"Mama, mama stop! You'll get hurt more!"

"Shippou, I can't. You'll be in danger. I will not allow that to happen." Kagome said, scaring me.

"But mama!"

"No buts!"

Thats when I felt it. There was another demon about. He was following us. It was that nice demon who distracted InuYasha for us. Kagome sensed him too, but probebly didn't know the difference between the two yet.

I found myself crawling into her shirt between her breasts and laying there with my head and the tip of my tail sticking out of her shirt, she just smiled and ran faster.

Soon she was having a hard time breathing again, so we stopped to get a drink and eat. I ran about getting fruits and mushrooms for us while she filled up her water container...thing. She said in her home it was called a water bottle. She told me alot of her homeland, it sounded interesting. I wanted to know more. But I never asked about it because it seemed to make her sad for some reason.

I could still feel that demon's presence, but I still worked on gathering food for me and mama. I could smell his curiousity, and his scent was familiar. I looked around and sniffed some more. I blinked. The lord of the west? Why was he here?

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" I called out, and he came out from behind a tree near me. Kagome gasped.

Sesshoumaru's POV~*~*~*~

It was no use hiding from the child, he could smell me. It wasn't as if I cared if he could smell me or not, I just didn't want to make my presence known to the woman-child who ran from my naive brother.

"Why does InuYasha hunt you?"

Lord Shippou seemed to jump at the question, but answered. "He wants her Shikon no Tama. He wants to wish to be a full demon."

The woman-child stood and dusted the dirt off her indecent clothing. "Come." I said and began to walk through the woods, the heir to the northern lands followed immediatly and after a short time so did his so-called mother.

"Where are we going?" The woman-child asked and I only spared her a quick glance before answering. "My palace. You may stay and help my servant take care of my ward, and in return I offer you my protection."

Lord Shippou smiled. "Daddy always did say you could be trusted." I snorted at the innocent comment from the child.

"Northern lands princeling, where are your parents?" I asked, curiousity getting the better of me.

"The thunder brothers killed them, Lord Sesshoumaru-sama. As soon as we get InuYasha off our tail me and Kagome were going to go after them with a plan." The young lord said, and scrambled up and into this 'Kagome's' shirt. He lay there as if he belonged there, between her breasts.

Kagome cooed at him and nuzzled him as if she were demon herself, crossing her arms about her breasts so the kitsune child was more secure. I could have sworn she talked to him in ancient tongue, but that could not be possible for a mere human. Only the most powerful demons and mikos were able to speak such tongue.

Kagome's POV~*~*~*~

This demon that led us, Sesshoumaru Shippou had called him, called Shippou a princeling. The heir to the Northern lands. Obviously they knew each other, because Shippou trusted this man. I smiled as Shippou nuzzled me as I nuzzled him.

Then I almost ran into Sesshoumaru when he stopped abruptly.

"Why did you stop so suddenly?" I asked only to see a little toad looking imp followed by a two headed ....thing. Dragon demon thing it looked like. Then out of no where a little girl latched onto Sesshoumaru's leg. And he didn't seem to mind a bit!

"Sesshoumaru-sama! This Rin missed you!" Sesshoumaru merely shook her off his leg and set her on the dragon. The toad thing was saying something and waving about his stick, earning a kick from 'Lord' Sesshoumaru. Shippou giggled.

When the toad returned he was begging for mercy, but I smiled and touched Sesshoumaru's arm softly.

"I'm sure Sesshoumaru forgives you, right Sesshoumaru?" Shippou gasped, for reasons I didnt understand.

"Do not presume to touch my master or speak to him as if he is your equal, human!" the toad said and sent a large flame towards me from his staff. I don't know what I did but I held out my hand and there was a barrier around me and Shippou. It seemed to be made of diamond, but it was just pure energy coming from my hand. Sesshoumaru lifted an arm to block the fire, his clothing being fire-proof some how, but some fire would have got to me and shippou anyway, and hit the barrier. As soon as the fire stopped, the barrier fell and I looked at my hand in amazement.

Sesshoumaru looked at me and a slow hint of a smile formed. "A miko. Interesting."
