Long lost words whisper slowly to me
Still can't find what keeps me here
When all this time I've been so hollow inside
I know you're still there
Watching me, wanting me
I can feel you pull me down
Fearing you loving you
I won't let you pull me down
Hunting you I can smell you - alive
Your heart pounding in my head
Watching me, wanting me
I can feel you pull me down
Saving me, raping me, watching me
Watching me, wanting me
I can feel you pull me down
Fearing you... loving you
I won't let you pull me down

Prologue I: Run Away
Kagome sprinted through the forest her feet hitting the cold dirt hard scratching her feet on the sharp little rocks sticking out of the dirt. But she didn't care, she ignored it all...
Run...had to run...had to get away...
The silk sleeping yukata she had been wearing was all but torn to shreads from catching on branches and loose twigs as she ran through the forest. But she ignored it, as she ignored the bitter cold that was beginning to chill her and continued running.
She could sense his rage...and shuddered.
His anger was great and she could tell that in his rage he was slowly giving into his blood beast. His Inu. But there was still a chance he wouldn't catch her if she hurried, she had used her Miko powers to form a barrier that should contain even him long enough for her to get away. Although her powers were mostly still beyond her control Kaede had taught her as best she could.
But even the powers she had were no match for him. Not if she couldn't control them...and Kaede wouldn't be able to help her now.
Nobody could help her now.
Not Sango, not Miroku, not Shippou, not even InuYasha.
After all it was hard to protect or help someone once you're dead.
Kagomes eyes watered with tears as she remembered them. Her dear friends who she had come to know in love due to all the time she had spent in the Feudal Era...
Those very people who had died in the final battle with Naraku.
Tears filled her eyes as she remembered their deaths. First it had been Miroku, then Sango, then Shippou trying to protect her, and then...InuYasha.
-Flashback-
The heavy scent of blood and death was evident even to Kagomes human nose. Tears streaked down her face and her school uniform was tattered into rags but she continued fighting, Miroku...Sango...and Shippou. They were all gone. Noticing a demon fast approaching she quickly notched an arrow and let it fly purifying the demon the moment the arrow hit it. She looked around over the sea of corpses. InuYasha where was...
"INUYASHA!" She shouted for her first love, the brash and brave hanyou who she held so dear.
"Gone little Miko...he's gone." Came a dark sinister voice she knew all to well, spinning around she turned and faced the one they had all been fighting. The one who was responsible for the death of her friends.
Naraku.
"Did you really think he'd choose you? You're nothing more then the re-incarnation of Kikyou. Who would want the cheap copy when they could have the original?" Naraku taunted as one of his tentacles shot out nearly knocking her off her feet. Kagomes eyes widened as she realized what he meant, "That's right little Kagome, InuYasha has gone to hell with his beloved Kikyou. How does it feel to be left behind, tossed aside like a piece of second-hand clothing?" Another tentacle shot out at her, this one catching her in the side causing her to fly backwards and hit the ground hard. She winced as she tried to stand only to fall once more to the ground. Naraku slowly approached her, "Now little Miko. Give me the final shards so I may complete the Shikon no Tama and your death will be a quick one."
"The only one who's going to be dieing...is you..." Kagome said as she once more tried to get to her feet attempting to ignore the pain that coursed through her veins not only because of the physical injuries the battle had caused her, but the hurtfull words that were spewing from Narakus lips. Even though she had known they were true...
"So it seems I'll have to take it by force don't say I didn't warn you." Naraku hissed, and as Kagome braced herself for whatever it was to come and at the same time fought to stay conscious. But just as her vision began to cloud and she realized that she wouldn't last much longer a blur appeared seemingly out of nowhere with something fuzzy in its hand that Kagome was able to recognize as a sword. Her eyes began to droop shut and her last conscious thought was, Please let it be InuYasha, please let him be alive...
And then she slipped into the dark oblivion.
-End Flashback-
But it hadn't been InuYasha who had slain Naraku and 'saved' her. She ran faster sensing that he had finally broken through the barrier that she had placed to keep him encased long enough for her to make an escape, but now that the barrier was broken she had to hurry. With his intense speed it would only be a matter of minutes before he would be able to catch her, what had taken her hours to cross would take him a couple minutes, maybe even less then that due to the fact that his bloodbeast was now controlling him, his sanity completely thrown to the wind.
Almost there...she was almost there...just a little farther...
She saw it. The well. It was in sight, just a couple hundred more feet and she'd be able to make it-
"MIKO!" A deep dark menacing voice roared causing the young woman to stumble over a rock and hit the grassy field hard. She quickly scrambled to her feet in an attempt to flee but she knew that her little mis-step might have just very well cost her her only chance of escape. She had to try she had to run!
"MINE!" The voice roared again, closer now. With his demonic speed he'd catch her there was no way that-
A howl of rage caused Kagome to pause in her running. She turned around her eyes widening in shock as she saw Kaede. The old Miko was standing no more then 20 feet away from Kagome a pained expression on her face as she tried to keep the barrier she had conjured against...him. Kagomes shuddered in fear as she saw him slamming his claws against the barrier attempting to break it. She knew that normally he would be able to easily shatter the barrier with one swipe had he been his normal calm self. But with his primitive blood controlling him right now all he had was brute strength, but even that would break the barrier soon enough.
Nothing would keep the enraged Inu from what it wanted for to long...and it wanted her.
"Run child! Return to your own time! Hurry I won't last much longer!" Kaede shouted at her sisters reincarnation. Kagome opened her mouth to protest, but Kaede cut her off, "HURRY!"
"MINE!" He shouted again his blood red eyes devoid of all sanity as he leered at her his claws once more slamming into the barrier.
"Thank you Kaede..." Kagome whispered as she ran towards the well and just as the barrier shattered she lept inside hearing one final howl of pain and rage as she traveled back to her own time two last words escaping her lips, "Goodbye Sesshoumaru."
"NEE-SAN!" Cried the voice of a young boy, Kagome looked up into the eyes of her younger brother Souta as she got out of the well and staggered forward. The young boy rushed to her side catching his sister as she nearly fell over, "KAGOME IS BACK! SHE'S HURT!" In a matter of moments Kagomes mother and grandfather arrived. Kagomes mother gasped in shock at the sight of her beloved daughter so badly scratched. And not all the injuries were from her run in the forest.
"Oh Kami what happened Kagome?" Her mother shouted as she rushed to her daughters side. Kagome swallowed and looked over at the well.
"We...need to seal the well..." Kagome managed to croak out grief over taking her as she wondered what Kaedes fate was. What the fate of the village was...and tears escaped her eyes as she thought of it. She knew that their end would be horrible, in the rage that he was in...Kami only knew what he would do. And knowing that they would suffer just because of her mistake made her start to weep.
"Kagome! Tell us what happened! What happened!" Kagomes mother shouted again but her voice sounded so distant, everything before her seemed to be fading away...just as it had that day of the battle. But this time she forced herself to remain conscious as her mother took her daughter protectively in her arms telling her that everything would be all right that she was safe now.
But she wasn't safe.
Never safe.
Not with his mark on her neck...
