"Hey! Get up!"
Kagome shifted slightly, opened her eyes for a second, and proceeded to toss her arm across her eyes and try to fall back into oblivion. A foot pried under her ribs and rolled her up into a semi sitting position, however, so she had no choice but to remain awake. "Oi! Kagome! Wake your ass up!"
Kagome gave Inuyasha a withering glare. "Sit." And while Inuyasha cursed muffled by a faceful of dirt, Kagome rose, stretched, and yawned her way into full awareness. She smiled at the gorgeous morning, popped her neck and back (always a bit stiff from sleeping on the ground) and greeted Miroku and Sango. Shippou she scooped into a hug, and carried him over to the remains of the campfire.
After a quick breakfast of cold rabbt from last night, they started out again. Kagome heaved her gieant yellow bag on her shoulders, and with Shippo riding on her head, she managed to mostly keep up with the slightly less burdened members of the shard collectors.
Hours later, the group was still going, though somewhat more sluggishly and less enthusiastically as the heat of the day bore down in full force and the humans of the motley assortment started to tire. It was then, as they started to scale up a rather steep incline that Kagome was felled when a strange burning sensation gripped her insides. Sango cried out in fear as Kagome suddenly started breathing harshly, dropped to her knees, and slumped over to the ground. Blissfully, Kagome fell into unconsciousness.
"What the fuck?!?!?!?!" Inuyaha raged.
*Yes yes, short chapter, I know, but I have to go to bed, my first college class starts tomorrow. I just wanted to get started on this little plot bunny.* Please review!
