Chapter 1: Lips of an angel

A silver haired figure lay asleep in his bed, curled next to a young woman with black hair. All was peaceful in the stillness and dark of the the room, until a slight musical tone revirberated throughout the room.

A large hand groped around for the horrid object. When his hand came in contact with the annoying, vibrating piece of plastic, he immeadiatly opened it and put it to his ear.

"Hello?" came his groggy deep voice into the reciever.

"Sesshoumaru?" A voice that he hadn't heard in months came from the other end.

*Honey why you calling me so late... It's kinda hard to talk right now*

His eyes widened as he sat straight up in bed. Glancing at the clock, it read '2:05'.

"Kagome?" He whispered. "Why are you calling me at 2:00 in the morning?" He asked getting out of bed and walking to the living room of his penthouse suite.

"Sesshoumaru...is it...is it okay to just talk right now? Or did I wake you up?" The voice sounded broken and heavy, like she had been crying.

*Honey why you crying is everything okay...I gotta whisper cause I can't be too loud*

Sesshoumaru ran a hand through his hair. "I suppose so. Why are you crying?" he asked, still in a voice barely above a whisper.

"Um...about that. I found out-" she cut herself off.

"Found out what?" he inquired.

"About InuYasha... and my sister..." she whispered.

"Oh.." he said. Already knowing where this is leading. He mentally sighed. He did not feel like this tonight. "Kagome, I have to go. Kagura's in the next room sleeping."

*Well, my girl's in the next room... Sometimes I wish she was you*

"Sesshoumaru, please..." her voice sounded so pleading, so desperate, he couldn't say no.

"What's wrong?"

"He-he left me. He left me and Shippou to go run of with my sister." She said quietly.

Sesshoumaru had never felt such anger before. How could his younger brother do such a thing to a woman who was so kind-hearted and pure?

But wait...Why should he care? They aren't together anymore and it shouldn't be his problem.

'Do I still love her?' He thought. 'Of couse not!'

Although, why did his heart ache with every passing day that she and him were apart? And why did the sound of her voice made him think of her laughter, which he definitly wanted to hear now, if he didn't love her still?

*I guess we never really moved on....It's really good to hear your voice saying my name, it sounds so sweet*

"Look, I know this is none of your business but I really need a friend right now. Remember, when we were younger, and you said we'd be friends forever, no mater what happened between us?" Kagome said, her voice taking on a whistful toneof rememberance.

Sesshoumaru nodded, "Yes, I do. It was in kindergarten I believe."

She laughed slightly, and he closed his eyes, listening to her voice's musical tone. "Mom always did say you had the memory of an elephant." she said jokingly.

*Coming from the lips of an angel... Hearing those words it makes me weak*

"How is she?" Sesshoumaru asked.

"She...she died... last month." Kagome said, her voice changing from lighthearted to sorrowful.

"What? Why didn't you call me?" he asked.

"Well, because...I did call and either you were busy working or Kagura answered and said something about you didn't want to talk to me." she said.

"Why would she tell you something like that?" Sesshoumaru asked.

*And I never wanna say goodbye*

"I don't know. I have to go now Sess. Shippou's crying. I'll talk to you later?" she asked.

"Yeah." he said with a bit of remorse.

"Okay bye."

*But girl you make it hard to be faithful...With the lips of an angel*

The silver haired figure lay awake in his bed tonight. It had been a week since he had last talked to her and all he saw everytime he closed his eyes was beautiful blue eyes staring back at him. Rising from his bed, he walk into the kitchen.

After getting himself a glass of water, he walked into the living room and sat on the couch. From the bedroom, a musical sound drifted to his ears. Sighing, he got up to get the phone.

"Hello?" his voice came into the reciever again.

*It's funny that you're calling me tonight...And yes I dreamt of you too*

"Sesshoumaru?" came that voice he knew oh-so-well.

"Kagome." he stated plainly.

"Ummm...is it okay to talk or did I wake you up?" she asked again

"No, I was awake." He said.

"Oh." she sighed. "Will Kagura be mad if she knew that you and I were talking? Or does she know?"

*And does she know you're talking to me...Will it start a fight...No, I don't think she has a clue*

This, Sesshoumaru was surprised to hear. "No. She doesn't know and she shouldn't care either. "

"Oh. I wouldn't want to cause any problems." She said shyly.

"Why would that cause problems? Kagura talks to her friends so why can't I?"

*Well my girl's in the next room... Sometimes I wish she was you*

Kagome smiled. "I have no clue."

Sesshoumaru smirked. "You usually never do."

Kagome grinned. "Shut up, Lord Fluffy-butt."

Sesshoumaru growled. "Watch it. That's Lord Fluffy-sama to you." he joked, something that he would only do with her.

*I guess we never really moved on... It's really good to hear your voice saying my name, it sounds so sweet *

Kagome laughed. "Butt, Sama what's the difference? They're both asses." she laughed.

He growled again, trying to fight back a smile at hearing her laughter again.

*Coming from the lips of an angel...hearng those words it makes me weak*

"Hey, so how's Rin?" she asked.

"She's fine. She is always as inquirious as ever." he said smiling at the thought of his young daughter.

"Yeah, Shippou too."

*And I never wanna say goodbye*

"Hey how about we get them together for a play date. I'm sure they'd love it." she suggested.

He smiled. She was so caring. He began to question why he was with Kagura and not with her.

*But girl you make it hard to be faithful...With the lips of an angel*

"That's fine."

"Great." She laughed. Then, suddenly she trailed off.

*It's really good to hear your voice saying my name, It sounds so sweet*

"Hey, Sess...did you ever think that we made a mistake? You know, splitting up?" came her inquiring voice.

He was in shock. "What?"

"You ever think that us splitting up felt like the worst mistake of your life?"

He couldn't lie to her. "Sometimes."

*Coming from the lips of an angel ...Hearing those words it makes me weak *

"Why?" she asked.

He stilled. 'Why do I feel that way?'

*And I never wanna say goodbye*

"I don't know." he said finnally.

"I don't know either. It's just...when I think about some of the good times we had growing up, and far apart we are now, it's just-" she cut herself off.

*But girl you make it hard to be faithful... With the lips of an angel*

"It makes you regret." He finished.

She nodded. "Yeah." she said.

*And I never wanna say goodbye*

"Hey Sess...I'm gonna go now okay?"

"Yeah." He said quietly.

"Bye."

"Bye."

Sesshoumaru sighed and closed his phone as he went to bed. Laying down, he looked at it and set it down.

Sighing, he drifted to sleep with images of blue eyes and a melodic voice in his ears.

*Honey why you calling me so late...*
