Mercy by Gesserit

Mercy

Mercy

Alabaster skin was speckled with that crimson blood,

His prey laid helpless praying at the God

Who could not help her anymore.

She never knew that she could love her death before

He narrowed his gold eyes to her.

Above them clouded skies shed tears to mend her heart,

to bend his wish and draw them far apart;

But motionless he stood, his fingers stained with her demise,

her mind collapsing under that solitary, last advice:

To get away, to run from him.

Wet strands of silver death dripped rain upon her silent face,

and burnt inside her the memory she never could erase.

Silently he bent and moved his eyes over her broken shape,

his eyelids almost closed, his mouth lightly agape,

Taking her in, making her his.

He called her name, she cried inside

for all the fear she could no longer hide,

for all the tears she was forbidden to pour out,

for all the love she was to die without.

And she breathed in, and she breathed out.

His fingers covered her wide open eyes.

The light had gone; she'd met her sweet demise.

Her bed was watery shade now, the prey was bled,

the price was paid for the bloodshed.

He almost felt regret.

As the hunter stood up, her raven hair spread at his feet,

her childlike face succumbing to defeat,

that shallow form beneath him, lifeless,

began to rip inside him merciless.

He frowned in discontent.

Rain still cried out the Heaven's heavy curse

begging the Lord to reconsider

Before her body would forever wither,

Before the prey shed all her blood,

Before his cruelty would anger God.

And so he drew his sword.

His arm trembled for the first time on the blade,

as he set out to hand her life an aid,

to bring his prey to life again,

to see her eyes, to lose her pain.

He cut through death.

Her first breath was as if it were his,

their hearts pounded together out of abyss

She lived, and therefore so would he.

He'd found another way to be.

In one word: mercy.
