A sigh escaped parted lips. 'Gah! I'm never ganna be able to finish this in time! I need some inspiration!' Another sigh followed by a loud screech woke the slumbering members of the Higurashi household. Three "Be quiet, Kagome!" could be heard soon after. 'They act like I meant to wake them up,' the young onna named Kagome thought, pouting slightly. A third sigh slipped out her pouty lips before she closed her azure eyes. Banging her head on the table (quietly!), she decided to call her partner in crime and best friend since forever, Sesshoumaru.
Three rings was all she heard before, "Taisho, speak."
"Kami, Sesshoumaru, you'd think you're a CEO of an important company instead of a high school student who needs a human to tutor him."
"You will die tomorrow, a very painful death."
"I love you too, Sesshou. But seriously, I called you cause I need help with the song we're ganna perform for the Shikon Annual Talent show!"
Silence greeted her exclamation before: "Kagome, I am not performing the talent show with you this year."
"B...but why? We perform every year, ever since we were first allowed to actually try out for the show in the 8th grade!" Tears threatened to fall.
"Kagura wishes for us to perform together."
"Oh...I see."
"Gomen nasi, Kagome-chan."
"Whatever..." Kagome hung up then, her tears falling down her cheeks to land on her guitar. 'At least I found my inspiration.' A sadden laugh left her lips as she plucked a few cords on her guitar before a furious scribbling filled her silent room.
She continued like that until well into the night. When the song was finished, she sighed. 'I'll have to call Sango and ask if she'll play her keyboard with me...'
Kagome walked down the Senior Hall of Shikon High School, her head bent and her newly written song clenched to her chest. Sango had agreed to it so all she had left to do was present it to the judging committee. If they approved, then they would send for Kagome and Sango, with no knowledge in advance, to perform their piece. They would have whatever instrument you would need.
She slowly entered the room where you were to drop off your act only to come face to chest with Sesshoumaru. "Um...hi, Sesshou."
"Sesshou-kun, you said I'm the only who's allowed to call you that," a screechy, female's voice sounded from behind him.
Sesshoumaru only nodded before walking past Kagome and her bright smile.
That I want and I'm needing everything that we should be
I'll be she's beautiful, that girl he talks about
And she's got everything that I have to live without
"Kago-girl, this song is so beautiful!"
"Yeah, I can't believe you wrote it."
"Shut it, Kikyou. You're just jealous 'cause your cousin can write better than you!" Three voices mirrored each other in their anger.
"Inu-kun, they just said Kagome was better than me!"
One of the occupants of the argument sat behind a microphone in her garage, smiling ruefully at Kikyou, Inuyasha, Eri, and Yume. Sango sat beside her and laughed as Inuyasha was thrown into the conversation. 'If only they knew who it was for, then they wouldn't be laughing. They'd wonder if I was okay in the head!' Kagome's laughter ended the argument with everyone wondering if she was still sane. The laughing onna waved her hand, singling they shouldn't worry about it.
"Kagome! Sesshoumaru's here to see you!"
"Coming! Be right back, ya'll!" Kagome called over her shoulder as she raced toward the living room, only to come to a halt when she noticed who he was with.
"Hello, Kagome-chan. We're sorry to come over unannounced but I just had to meet the girl Sesshou-kun has pictures of all over his room," a accusing stare was pointed toward the stoic inu-youkai, "I'm sure you've heard all about me. I'm Kagura."
"Kagome," the young onna held out her hand but nervously laughed when Kagura just gave it a disgusted look. "Riight...would you like anything, Kagura?" The wind witch shook her head, "Alright, I'll be right back with your tea, Sesshou...maru"
Not liking how familiar Kagome was with her boyfriend, Kagura bit out: "He won't need anything from you."
"O...kay."
She went and got herself a glass of water, coming back to find Sesshoumaru sitting on the couch. She laughed, sat beside him, and they started talking like old times. So caught up in their laughter, they didn't notice a certain red-eyed female who was fuming from the door way. Several times said female tried to gain their attention but they never stopped laughing or talking. The conversation then turned to Kagura with Sesshoumaru stating how much he loved her and how he finally had it right.
He talks to me, I laugh cause it's so damn funny
That I can't even see anyone when he's with me
He says he's so in love, he's finally got it right,
I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night

The couple soon took their leave, promising to see each other again. 'Well, that fits my song, just like I knew it would. I wonder if he'll ever realize how much I love him.'
He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

Kagome barely saw Sesshoumaru in the months leading up to the Shikon Talent Show. Every time he walked by, her heart skipped a beat before painfully pounding in her chest. Of course Kagura was with him every time so she couldn't do anything but smile and wave. 'Why did my heart choose him of all the guys in this school? Why!?' was her daily thought. It flew around her head, creating a confusing mess of emotions and thoughts. Her grades began to drop due to her inner turmoil; so much that the teachers threatened to pull her out of the show.
"Kago-girl, you need to get your head screwed on tight! What are you thinking failing art!?"
"I'm not thinking at all, Sango. I can't. Not with all this confusing emotions and thoughts running circles around my sanity!"
Sango wrapped comforting arms around her smaller friend, "Shhh, its ok. I'm here and so are the rest of your friends. We understand what's going on. At least, I do but you know what I mean...at least, I hope you do. Am I making any sense to you 'cause I'm making none whatsoever to me?"
The azure eyed onna laughed, "Thanks girly, I needed that."
At that moment, Sesshoumaru decided to walk by – without Kagura. Azure met gold in a heated gaze before a small smirk flittered across the stoic youkai's lips. Kagome's breath caught in her through when she saw that smile. His gracefully and confident gait captured her attention as he walked away, straight into Kagura's waiting arms. Kagome's heart broke at that sight.
He walks by me, can he tell that I can't breathe?
And there he goes, so perfectly,
The kind of flawless I wish I could be
She'd better hold him tight, give him all her love
Look in those beautiful eyes and know she's lucky cause
He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do

It was the day of the talent show and the groups were setting up in the auditorium. They had drawn numbers the week before to see who would perform first. Unfortunately for Sesshoumaru, he wouldn't be performing at all because Kagura's singing voice was not what the judges wanted to hear more than once. That saddened Kagome but she knew he would still go to the show. After all, they promised they would always be there for each other, even though he already broke the promise of him performing with her for the Shikon Annual Talent Show. 'He wouldn't break that promise...would he?'
Kagome stood in dressing room formally known as the locker room for the female band members. She and Sango were dressed beautifully. Kagome was wearing a dark green dress that came off the shoulders and clung to her torso. When reaching her hips, it loosened to allow a train to fall behind her. Sango, on the other hand, was dressed in a deep purple dress that ended mid thigh only to go in a diagonal pattern down to the floor. It was a form fitting dress with one, over the shoulder sleeve. Both had on light make-up consisting of mascara, eye liner, and a natural shade of lip gloss. They were dressed to kill.
"Sango...I don't think I can do this!"
"Kago-girl, don't worry! You'll knock them dead, I promise!"
"You'll never win, bitch" a voice sneered from behind Kagome, "You're just a fucking pathetic excuse of a song writer and Sesshoumaru will never love you."
"Get out of here, Kagura. Participants only or did you forget your screeching made the judges grateful to hear Kagome's voice." Sango hissed back at the wind witch.
"No, Sango. Trash like her should be ignored," Kagome stated while walking toward the stage entrance. They were the last to go and only one was before them at this time.
Sango did as told and waited beside Kagome. With baited breath, they waited and listen to the crowed as they went wild when Kouga Wolff finished singing "Breaking the Habit" by Linkin Park. Finally they let go of the breath they were holding before taking their places on stage. The green-dressed onna stood center stage with her body turned toward the left and her train going behind her only to curl around toward the crowd. The taller onna sat in front of a grand piano behind and to the right of the singer. Her train flowed down the back of her chair to curl like Kagome's.
Sango's hands began to move across the keys as the curtains opened. Shocked murmurs spread through out the auditorium before all was silent. Kagome's voice captured them.
I'll put his picture down and maybe
Get some sleep tonight

She watched through azure eyes, looking for the one she loved with all her heart only to find his usually cold eyes staring back at her wider than normal. A smile flittered across her lips, 'Finally, he understands...'
He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar
The only one who's got enough for me to break my heart
He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do
He's the time taken up, but there's never enough
And he's all that I need to fall into..
He looks at me, I fake a smile so he won't see.

Ok...I just had to write this when I heard this song. Inspiration just struck me full force in the face...and it hurt like a son of a gun! Let me tell you! Anyway, ya'll will be wanting to press that nice little button that says review, right? Or maybe the one that says rate...right!?
