The battle raged on, as the two blood brothers fought yet another senseless battle, and as usual Inuyasha was getting his ass kick. Once again, Inuyasha has over reacted to the taiyoukai's presence and began his wild sword swinging. Sesshoumaru, with a rather bored expression on his face, glanced over the three humans that stood nearby watching, Inuyasha get smashed into another tree.
"Hey your fight is with me, not them," Inuyasha retorted from his resting spot on the ground near the final resting place of the once great tree that now lay behind him.
"This Sesshoumaru see no need for worthless beings such as yourselves", he exclaimed directing his statement to the inu-gang and his brother indirectly, while maintaining his stance. "However Inuyasha in your case it seems to be improvement, seeing that you are a half- breed."
Once again returning his full attention to the now standing hanyou in front of him.
"Why you..." Inuyasha growled while fisting his claws as if meant to punch the arrogant lord in his prefect little face.
"Sesshoumaru what is it that you want now? Why have you come?" Kagome asked.
"Hush woman. I have no time to engage you in worthless chatter that you humans seem to be so fond of."
"Then why are you here?" She asked again.
The great lord stood in silence for what seemed like ages and then with his deep baritone voiced indirectly answering the miko.
"I thought by now that my motive was clear." the demon lord replied in a flat tone while slowly running his claws through his silver long hair flipping it over his shoulder in the most graceful way. Kagome gasped at his reply.
~What did he mean by that? What was it that we are missing? ~ She thought to herself.
Kagome slowly began to form a worried look on her face. She however maintain her eye contact with the demon lord, just trying to figure out exactly what he meant by his statement.
~He said it as if we should have known what he was talking about...NO... like I should have known. What is it that I should know about Sesshoumaru's visit to them?~
They have been running into him a lot lately. Well ever since Naraku was destroyed.
~Was it that the great demon lord may actually enjoy our company, was he in fact lonely? (She laughed at the thought.) Naw, she thought, impossible Sesshoumaru has no need for should intimate relationships. He is after all a heartless bastard, who has tried to kill Inuyasha and myself several times. Well actually, just Inuyasha, not me, except for that one time in their father's tomb. To think about, he has never really acknowledge their presence unless they made themselves known by calling him out or trying to stop the two brothers fighting.
Kagome thought about it so more.
~Actually, when I think about it, he has only been hostel to Inuyasha. I have never seen him violent toward anyone unless they personally made an attack upon his person or his ward.~
While Kagome continued to ponder on the motives of the taiyoukai before them, Inuyasha and the others continued to plague him with questions about his presence.
"Sesshoumaru why have you come? I am not going to ask you again. However maybe you would prefer I beat it out of you." Inuyasha threaten.
Everyone remained quiet as to anticipate the battle that was going to come once again. Sesshoumaru remain quiet and only answered by drawing his sword.
~This fool how dare he think he can take me on. I am the product of two daiyoukai and he is but a half breed, not even fit to serve at my fathers feet, let alone challenge me in a duel. ~ Sesshoumaru thought.
"Hm, I guess that's a yes." Inuyasha stated as he drew his sword, tetsiaga, "Bring it on dog breathe."
They both begin to charge at one another at full speed but before their swords even touch a voice called out from behind them, and with a sudden crash Inuyasha laid flat, face first, into the ground.
"SIT, boy! Why do you guys always have to fight every time you see one another? We don't have time for this foolishness. I mean grow up already!"
Sango, Miroku and shippou stood in complete silence as they watch the scene play out before their eyes, each wondering what will happen next. Wondering if Kagome has crossed her boundaries by stopping the brothers' quarrel.
There was no doubt she had crossed her boundaries by stepping in and stopping the fight, it was just she couldn't take it anymore. All their bickering and fighting was giving her a headache.
~Why just once can't they just get alone.~ Kagome sighed.
"Inuyasha it seems that, that wench of yours has presumably save your life once again; how pathetic." Sesshoumaru teased.
"Why you..." Inuyasha mumbled from the dirt that he was so suddenly force to. Sesshoumaru stood there, lingering, as he look first at Inuyasha and then suddenly turned his attention to kagome. He stared into her eyes as if he was trying to tell her something, something only he wanted her to hear, for her to know. They both stood there and looked at one another, her brown eyes to his hazel eyes, peering at one another as to look at each other's souls, searching for information that neither was finding, and as suddenly as he can he turned around and walked away. Kagome stood watching him turn his back to her and leave the scene that he created with bewilderment in her eyes.
~What was that all about? He just looked at me. He didn't say anything, do anything, he just looked at me. What was he trying to tell me? He look as if I had something he wanted, like predator looks upon his prey, only to return at a better time when he could get his prize without all the disturbances. He wants something from me but what I don't know?~
She continued this thought until Inuyasha got up just in time to see the glazed that Sesshoumaru and Kagome shared for what seem like a century but only last a few seconds.
"What the hell was that all about?" Inuyasha asked, in an irrigated voice.
"I don't know." kagome whispered.
"Well you better get moving if we are to make to the hot springs before night fall. And how I long for a bath. So let's get going." Sango ordered.
Sango just couldn't take another argument, she knew it was coming, Inuyasha and Kagome had been arguing when Sesshoumaru showed up. They had been so wrapped up in their frustrations that no had sense the taiyoukai's presence until it was too late.
*******flashback*******
Kagome reached into her beat up yellow backpack to retrieve her bath supplies. Inuyasha had been pushing them like 'dogs', no pun intended, and she just wanted to soak her battle worn muscles in very hot water, preferable in the hot springs nearby.
"Kagome just where the hell do you think you're going?"
"I'm going to take a bath Inuyasha. You know what regular people do, like us, and not walk around like some filthy dog. Well not all dogs, your brother tends to keep himself pretty clean maybe you can take a lesson from him." Kagome retorted while crossing her arms.
"What! Like I would ever wanna be like that ice prick." Inuyasha snorted.
"Fine, Inuyasha be that way, but I am still going to take a bath, so see you in an two hours."
"WHAT! TWO HOURS! JUST WHAT HELL..."
*********END FLASHBACK***********
With everyone now on the same page, they continued on to their destination. Mood now seem slumber as everyone began to wonder on the strange events of the day, and the weird actions of the taiyoukai. Miroku walked alone aside Sango, when a question began to burn within him, and his curiosity started to take over.
"Kagome what was that all about with Sesshoumaru? Why had he looked at you that way?" Miroku asked.
Kagome instantly tensed up at his question, mainly because she didn't even know why he had looked at her that way.
~ And why did he have to bring that up now, knowing that Inuyasha was still upset about the whole thing.~
"I don't know, Miroku. It did though seem kinda strange that he would show up out of no where, and he didn't seem as if he wanted to fight Inuyasha either."
"Hm, the bastard probably was bored and wanted nothing more than to bother me." As Inuyasha rudely interrupted kagome's explanation to Miroku's question.
"No Inuyasha I do not believe that is the answer. He seemed to expect that we knew why he was there. Nevertheless, you might be right Inuyasha. I wouldn't put it pass him to do such a thing." Miroku answered.
"Hm"
"I don't know, Miroku, it seemed to me that he was quite interested in kagome for some reason or another. I mean did you see the way he looked at her?" Sango replied.
"Yes he did seem rather interested in kagome, did he not?" Miroku agreed.
"Yes, and before he walked away he stared at her as if to tell her something. Kagome? What do you think?"
"I don't know." Kagome was beginning to get annoyed and on top of that she couldn't help the blush from spreading across her face. She didn't want to talk about that stupid youkai anyway. He had only ruin what was suppose to be a quiet day with friends. Well Inuyasha had done that with his bickering and complaining earlier.
"Aww, we're here." Kagome said with great excitement. ~ Now let's get to relaxing. ~
Sango and Kagome shooed the men away so that they could get undress and enter the hot spring. It was dust when they finally arrived to the spring. They walked what seemed like for ages to finally arrive to the hot springs that the girls bodies so longed for. The females settled into the water after they successfully had gotten rid of the men, to talk a little girl talk. Silence was deafening until Sango suddenly spoke up.
"Kagome?"
"Yes, Sango."
"What was that whole thing with Sesshoumaru all about?"
"I don't know, Sango. I really wished I knew."
"Are you sure you don't have a clue? I mean he looked at you for a long time and that whole thing with his motive being obvious, I mean you must have some clue."
Kagome gave Sango's words a little more thought, and came to a conclusion.
"It seems that he was there to see me. I don't know why but I got the feeling that it was ME that he seeked and not Inuyasha."
Sango remained quiet as if to drag more information out of kagome.
"His eyes--they were so strange. Not evil or hateful but that of longing or need," she thought for another moment before continuing, "I fear that this will not be the last that we hear of the taiyoukai. I fear he will not give up until his desire has been filled, and it seems to me that he has always gotten what he wanted.
"Sango?"
"Yes, kagome."
"Have you ever noticed how cute Inuyasha's older brother is?"
Sango seemed taken back by the sudden revelation from her sister figure, Kagome.
"I mean I never thought about it. Well maybe I have thought about it a little, I mean they are both good looking brothers. I did after all notice Inuyasha right away, and after the fear of Sesshoumaru subsided I noticed how they favored and how young Sesshoumaru looked. I guess I have noticed Sesshoumaru's looks." Sango admitted finally.
Kagome giggled a little at the flushed Sango.
"It seems Sango that we have more in common then I thought," she giggled.
Sango remained quiet and embarrassed at how much information she had revealed to Kagome. They continued their soak a little while longer before rudely interrupted by an unfamiliar yet familiar presence.
"...Sesshoumaru..."
