Yasomuto Academy, Boarding Included
Summary
Kagome is a young girl with alot of problems. Her boyfriend dumped her for her older sister, her best friend transfered to be with her boyfriend, she has a stalker who's girlfriend is bent on making her life hell, and now her mother has put the cherry on top of the cake. Her highschool days will now be lived out in a boarding school for the excessively intelligent. Now really, how could it get any worse?
a/n---Boo!!! I thought I'd give this a shot, since I'm bored. If it sucks, I blame it on school not being in full swing yet.
Part One
My heart sank through a hole that already exists in my stomach as we passed the sign that said, 'Welcome to Yasomuto Academy'. This country road is leading to the rest of my school career. I've read that if you get out with even C's, anybody will hire you. It's almost like going to university in High School.
But it's not where I want to go.
Grade 9 was the year from hell, leading me up to this point in life. My boyfriend left me for my sister, both of which are going to this school, though Kikyo isn't in on smarts. My best friend, whose class I've been in since pre-k, transfered to some fancy religeous slaying school to be with her boyfriend, and apparently some lunatic has both our lives planned out, children and all. Thank god he's graduating this year.
But now, as I see the old japanese style buildings, I find myself wanting to cry. I have to start all over again from scratch. My good rep. doesn't exist here, nor do I have any friends. And it's a boarding school, meaning there really is no escape for me. No safe place to hide.
Kikyo, who is sitting behind me on the bus, taps my shoulder and says, "Looks like our kind of place, huh? Like in the stories I used to tell you."
This isn't her first attempt at cheering me up. I know she doesn't like me to be upset, especially if it's because of her, which it normally is. Kikyo has the bad habit of stealing the spotlight without meaning to. But she must think stealing my boyfriend is going a little too far. But I know you can't help who you fall in love with from expirience.
"A bigger version of the shrine." I reply, looking back and giving her my best attempt at a smile. She isn't fooled for a second, I can see it in her eyes. But she puts on the happy facade, just to keep white-haired boy beside her smirking. I look forward again and let the ruse drop. I'm lucky I don't have to share a dorm room with her, or I'd never hear the end of the apologies.
The bus halts silently in front of the elegant buildings and I sigh. Here is the beginning of my new life, where my only friends are on a Hotmail chat line. Woopee.
Inuyasha, my ex, lets Kikyo run off the bus, knowing she forgets everything when she's excited, and pulls me along with him.
"C'mon, Kagome. Lets' go find your stuff." He says, holding me back when I nearly trip off the bus. This is why I fell for him. No matter how violent our stupid arguments get, he'd always guard my weak points and never say a word about it...until later when he could use it against me. I guess old habits die hard, harder maybe for dog demons.
Kikyo is running back to us now, crying, "Kags, come on!!!! You've got to see the inside of this place!!"
Inuyasha chuckles and jogs up to Kikyo, sweeping her off her feet and into a tender kiss, and I turn to find my bags before it gets too passionate. He never did that to me, saying I was too young for that level of romance, and I find I get jealous every time he kisses my sister. I understand that he didn't want me to try anything before I was ready, but she get's to have everything that I wanted, while all I ever got was the occassional hug and peck on the cheek.
I locate Kikyo's and Inuyash's bags before mine even comes out of the greyhound bus. I set the 5 or so bags aside so they're easy to grab and go for my one. It's all I really need, since I don't have make-up or scary amounts of accessories like my sister. I have my laptop, which I kept with me on the bus in a shoulder bag, and essentials that the school doesn't supply. That's it.
Kikyo isn't with Inuyasha when he comes to grab their stuff. I don't know how he manages, but he carries all 5 of their bags and mine to the office, even though I offered to help. Show-off.
As we walk, I study the gardens that make up the school grounds. I'm amazed at how small it seems from here, but in the pamphlet it said the grounds held 5 dorm buildings, a 4-6 acre PE grounds, along with a building for each separate subject, and a picnic area on the beach. It must just be behind this....palace. This must be the main building, where the main office is and the ballroom. Or was it the garage? Hm...
"Kagome, you in there?"
I look up and see Kikyo smiling down at me, laughter in her eyes. I can't help but smile right back, not quite as forced as before.
"Sorry, I got lost in my mind for a moment there." I murmur, glancing at the cherry trees that are spred all through campus, trying to imagine them in spring with their pale pink petals raining down on...
"Kagome, you better run. Grade 10's start the tour in...minutes now." says Inuyasha, pointing out a small group of dazed kids my age. I nod, take my bag from him, and start my walk over to the tiny crowd. I glance back once to see the couple still standing where I left them, Kikyo smiling and waving and Inuyasha motioning for me to keep going. I look back at my goal and bite my lip. One of the girls is already glarring at me.
I turn back around when a sharp silver Porshe roars passed the bus and parks feet away from where I'm standing on the side of the road. A valet is already running out to meet the driver, who steps out of his vehicle in a flash of silver hair. He doesn't even spare me a glance, and scans the sidewalk, finding what he's looking for. His blank look turns to a murderous glare.
Which just so happened to be directed at Inuyasha and my sister.
