Dream-Like Reality by UtterChaos247
Chapter One
Lights flashing, beat pounding, body swaying...
Coming into to consciousness, Kagome tossed about grumpily. Trying to regain the bliss of sleep, she clenched her eyelids shut tight to block out the rays of light pouring through. Letting out a sigh, the young woman finally sat up...and immediately regretted it.
Lifting her head off the soft bed sent her into chaos. Even though her eyes were still shut, she could feel the room spinning. And blood was pumping in her mind so loud and hard, she almost thought it was coming from something outside; was it not for the radiating pain contradicting that theory.
A sharp gaze, a predatory smile, a soft touch...
'Club... I was at a club last night, I remember. Today is Sunday...' As her higher level of thinking began to boot up, more memories of how she came to be seeped into her mind...
Music ricocheted within her mind; a slight buzz ran through her body from the mix of drinking and dancing. Moving with any partner who approached her, not caring to take any actual notice of the one with her. Just flowing with beat as she threw her thoughts away.
Strange, Kagome was not usually the type of college girl to go out and party on the weekends, so why would she-? 'Kikyou...' Now she remembered, two nights ago, her twin sister, her only family left, had been killed. Only...it was weird. The police say she died of natural causes, but they don't know how. Kikyou's body had been found drained completely of blood.
Kagome shouldn't be surprised. Over the past three months, several young women have been found this way. More specifically, young party girls. A category in which her sister had definitely fallen under. No wounds on their bodies, hollow and pale. Kagura Onigumo, Sara Keiko, Eri Yuuzuru, and now, Kikyou Higurashi... All gone, and all proclaimed of a natural death. 'It wasn't fair.'
Kikyou, her big sister, her only sibling, her only loved one... simply lost in one moment, never to be seen once more. Kagome now remembered how she let her friends drag her to the nearest club in order to 'shed her grievances, and forget worrying,' after only one day. She mentally cursed her companions for making her tag along; but in retrospect, it did make her feel better, if only for a while.
A shift in the sway of her body. A new song began, and another partner had her by the hips. Only, this one stood out, for some reason, running her eyes along the form of her dancing partner, Kagome allowed herself to take in the features of the new figure.
Lying stiff in her bed, she recalled dancing with a certain partner. A frown plastered onto her lips, she remember the floating feeling she felt as she finally acknowledged one of the many others Kagome had been spending the hours of her Saturday night with.
A calming feeling washing over her, gentle hands leading her away as if moving through a fog, darkness and silence settling around them, contributing to the desire flaming within his eyes.
More and more rapidly, thoughts and memories coming from what seemed to be a dream, made their way to the front of her mind. Successfully petrifying her being. Breaths came in as small gasps as Kagome began to hyperventilate.
Her mind was blissfully wandering through a haze. Vaguely feeling hands running through her hair...gentle pressure atop her body...soft sheets pressed beneath her. A warmth spread throughout her, causing her to become ignorant of that around, even more so than before. Fingertips gently stroked the length of her bare body... pressure built up deep inside her, and a desire burned with her entire being...
Kagome started scaring herself, these thoughts... they're so intense. 'Almost as if... it actually happened.' Her doubting thoughts began ebbing away, as pictures flashed in her mind's eye.
Long silver hair...pale, glistening skin...intense, golden eyes...an inviting hand...
She whimpered, and clutched her head. Trying so hard to will the fiery fantasy away. To clear her mind of the obsessive illusion that plagued her pounding mind.
A soft moan... "Don't turn away; let me see your beauty."... A deep chuckle... "Patience is a virtue, Ka-go-me..." ... Gentle breathing against her ear... "I can't... I don't know why, I've done this many times over. But...now, I can't bring myself to do so...not with you..."
As the last of his sultry voice faded in her mind, she remembered. Tears burned at the back of her eyes as she remembered another reason for her distress. She remembered the feeling before he left her with these cursed figments of what she still considered her imagination.
Teeth... grazing her shoulder... soft breath making it's' way up her neck... sharp canines nibbling at her pressure point... before retracting. Leaving her, unfulfilled, unhappy, and utterly alone once more...

As time went on, Kagome left to herself. Her friends grew apart from her, and she continued on her own. The more time that had passed, the less reality came into her dreams, and the more denial grew. Few times had she caught something at the corner of her eye; only to ignore it, and keep moving forward, by herself.
