Slight Indifference by dontaskquestions

Chapter 1

(Morning of 16th birthday) Kagome turned in her bed hoping for the day to just end while she toiled the day away, but her mother wouldn't hear of it pushing her daughter straight out of the bed. "Get up already Kagome, I'm not having you sleep all day and miss examinations" Her mother sighed puting down a freshly bleached shirt and pants that they(the undecided) were to wear. "Mom..." groaned Kagome still trying to sleep on the ground, though her naturaly rebellious side started to take over.... "Kagome Get Up!" her mother yelled throwing Kagome straight over the edge... "Leave me alone Mom, why do I have to become a Breeder why can't I just get a normal job like everyone else!" Kagome yelled back... "Because, I'm not having my daughter living on the streets, that's why!" her mother yelled again, Soata in the other room sighed... the morning had begun...

Kagome fussed bu eventualy gave up as the heat passed away, while being shoved into the stupid requried uniform... "There now don't you look pretty?" Her mother said turing waching Kagome, now happy. "No."Kagome grumbled hoping her mother heard. "Now let me do your hair." The mother smiled a proud smile as she bgan to try and over curl her daughters natural wavy hair. Kagome sighed it wasn't worth the fuss.. "Kagome quit moving your head!" "Yes mother..."

(1 hour later) Kagome looked up at the hospital, a normal place to be afraid of but because she was here for the "Breeders determination" which decided if the 16 teen year olds would be good enough to be a Breeder... Kagome hated that term all they were was sluts used to bred healthy children after the "Great Disease" that almost killed everyone. The only thing good out of it, Kagome thought, is that nobody hardley dies of sickness, fewer diformitories, and a controlled population. Kagome sighed once again taking one step foreward before her mother dragged her along into the big wide doors... "When I leave thes doors, I'll know..."

(Inside) Her mother started getting anxios and decided to go back out into the car to rlax, giving Kagome time to rub off the annoying make up(applying her own makeup ,so she actually looked real) gladly, Kagome used her decurling brush(that took away fake curls but not real ones) and relaxed into a chair feeling a lot more comfortable. That's of course how her mom found her silently fuming under the fake smile, her mom always wore. "Kagome Higurashi ?" A nurse called "The doctor is ready to see you now." Kagome stood up hoping that she could pinch herself and wake up as a happy 8 year old who wouldn't have to worry about this moment for another 8 years. "Hi, I'm Kagome's mother, I was wondering..." "there she goes again, trying to get something...." She thought tuning out as he docter came in , already beginning his examinations. "I'm Mr. Mushu, I'll be examing you today... Let's see..(looking at clipboard) Isee you are here for a "Breeder's exam" Let's get started." the doctor follwed by sitting in a chair and having Kagome sit down. First, off he took her blood and uraine sample(to see if she even qualified) Then he settled in and began the questions....

"How old our you?"

"16"

"How much do you weigh?"

"128"

"How tall are you?"

"5'5"

"Do you eat healthy"

"Most of the time."

That's when he started dropping the bombs..

"Even though I know you are wearing the"white" uniform for virgins I am still required to ask these questions I am going to have my friend Dr.Maya tell me if you are lying or not."

Great, Kagome thought, not only do I have to answer private answers, my mom, and some other lady gets to hear...even though I haven't really done anything..

"Are you pregnant?"

"No" feels offinded

"How many times in the last week have you had sex?"

"None" blushing slightly..

"Are you sexaly active?"

"No..." blushing more, and the doctor seems intrested she guessed not many girls were still virgins at her age...

"Are you affended by the idea of mateing demons?"

" No" wishing silently that this would stop

"Have you ever kissed a boy/girl?"

"No!" blushing more this was getting imbarassing...

He continued to ask questions Kagome couldn't stop blushing like a 12 year old...

"Dr.Maya, could you please come in?" he said loudly and a young demoness(yes there are demons too) Kagome watched as the beautiful woman came in and handed a filled out sheet.

"Well it seems Kagome that you passed with flying colors, the results came in and you don't have anything wrong with your body for birthing, Congrats you are now an official Breeder. Kagome felt her heart drop....

"Now all you have to do,"Dr. Mushu continued plling out a stack of papers"is decide which kind of Breeder you want to be, with your results you could serve a full demon!" He felt excided where Kagome started looking for ways out of this... just play along Kagome, (she grinned realizing a way out)all you have to do is be a total witch to whoever chooses you and you'll never have to breed! Her mother crossed the room giving to what all outsiders would see as a friendly hug but in turth her mother hissed into her ear"Don't you dare choose a demon!" After that she was escorted out of the room by Dr.Maya.

"Good now here's the choices feel free to browse while I complete the paperwork with your mother. Kagome scanned through finally coming across the name "Sesshoumaru Tai-Youkai" Kagome smiled "A demon....
