Are you serious? I haven't read a fic with Kag's mom's name is that. I frequently use Satomi or Hitome, but then I don't usually write her into a fic very much except in passing. I would be interested to know where it came from too.

I'm pretty sure Mama Higurashi is named Kun-Loon in Texanlady's Choices and Consequences. I'm not sure if that's where it started, but that story is epic win, so perhaps it sparked a trend?

Re:Kun-Loon? 14 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 78
I suspect "Kun-Loon" originated in a early work of fan fiction. I know I first encountered the name in a really old story, and then I have come across it a couple of times since then. I've read the scanlated manga a couple of times, and seen all of the anime and the four movies over and over, and have never come across Kagome's mother's name. I read the big paperback book of character profiles once, a couple of years ago, and it seems as though if she had been given a name, I would remember it from there. Anyone have that book? Personally, though, I kind of like the concept of her just being "mom".

Well, I've flipped through my handy-dandy profile book for the Inuyasha characters and her character's name is...Mom. I've flipped through it cover to cover, and it looks like she is just called Mom. Grandpa is just called Grandpa. The only person, besides Kagome, who has a name in that family is Souta...well, and Buyo.

Although, I have to say, Kun-Loon is one of my favourite names for the mother in fanfiction.

I've never seen the name except in fanficts either. I do know, that in a badly subtitled and illegally copied versions of the anime(read,it was taped off the tv), I've seen the characters totally renamed..and I don't mean something like Kikyo is "chinese bell flower" or Sesshoumaru is "killing life circle". I mean they totally gave them some other Asian sounding name. I wonder if this is how it started? Unless, it's been misspelled, it also does not seem to be a very typical Japanese sounding name. Just my thoughts on it.

Absolute Anime says that her name is Kun-loon... I'm not sure that's right as I have never actually heard her called that in the anime or read it in the manga.

Re:Kun-Loon? 14 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 216
okay seriously i've never seen her named listed anywhere as anything other then "momma" "mama" "mother" only on Absolute Anime have i ever seen it as "Kun-Loon" which btw on 5 different baby name websites is not even a found name :l

I know where Touga came from it was the working crew name for him on the 3rd movie, but he has no official name either. and as for fics, i've seen a lot of times where her name is kun-loon.

Personally I tend to name Papa - Touga;
Sessmomma ~ also has no name~ - Hatsumomo
and mama H - "Sayuri"
As for Kagome's dad if ever he's there he's the one i play with more then not. I've named him, "Yoshiro, Shirosamu, Akira, Kage, Kane, and a few others i think..."

That name is more Chinese than Japanese. But Mrs. H doesn't have an official name just the Inu no Taisho or Sesshomaru's Mother. But Absolute Anime has Sesshomaru's Mother's name as Inukimi, though she was NEVER called that in the episode she was featured in. She was referred to as the Lady Mother. But I guess authors come up with their own names for these characters in their fics. Kun-Loon is just another name that was made up by authors. That's my opinion.

I think when I actually said what her mother's name was in one of my stories, I did use Kun-loon too. But the only reason I used that is because I googled what Kagome's mothers name is and that is the one that came up the most. I really don't like having strangers call another persons mom, 'mom'. But usually if I am using her mother I just use Mrs.Higurashi. It's easier that way XD

Kun-Loon is not a Japanese name-- in fact, it's not even a very convincing Asian name. Obviously Chinese has an "L" but... I dunno. Kun-Loon just sort of has a Indian/Arab ISH thing going on as far as I'm concerned.

Japanese has no "L" sound- there is Ra Ri Re Ro and Ru, but there is no "Lu" sound to speak of. I highly doubt that anyone associated with the anime/manga (especially the part that is made in Japan) would give mama a name ending in "Loon".

It is, however, kind of cool sounding. It is used as Mama's name in the story Dogs of War, and I think it fits well. Though admittedly THAT version of Mama is an alien, so how Japanese she sounds is not an issue.

Well, I'm not sure, but in a ton of NaruInu crossovers, and a handful of fics over here in Dokuga, they use Kun-Loon. I have no idea why, as in my opinion, it's more of a Chinese name. Maybe it means 'really nice mom' or 'mom who lets her only daughter travel through time and fight monsters.'

There's a Kun Loon surname from Malayasia, I think it pertains to a mountain range from there?
