Ok so most of you will probably think I'm PC program illiterate for this...which I am to an extent...


But how do ya'll colour the line art pics? I would love to give colouring some of the line art a try, but I don't know what program most of you are using to finish these pics so beautifully...

Explain please?

eh, well for starters what program do you have? that will help us, to help you ^_^

this will help those of us who have the same program help you. there's many ways to paint/color just depends on what your using so the rest of us can help ^_^

I think I was using a corel painter. But you can do it with pretty much anything, including plain ole paint. It will just take longer. But shading would probably be the most important to make sure you do. With paint, just double click on the color square and you can lighten or darken the current color to give you some nice shading.

Lol I think the default Microsoft Paint program is all I have...I have photo editing programs like Picasa and Microsoft Digital Image Suite 9, but those aren't the kind of programs I need...right?

I've never heard of the ones you have, but I don't think they would work right. You can do it with paint, if you don't have the money to spend on one of the others, it'll just take longer and you'll have to have a lot of patience.

I haven't had the chance to try that one yet, my computer died before I could get it, but I've heard a lot of the artists on site speak of using it and haven't heard them complain about it.

Well that's good cuz I just downloaded it. I'll have to check out all of the program's features when it's done downloading. I guess it'll trial and error for a bit unless someone has experience with it and volunteers some tips.

I don't have any for you, but check out the tutorial section in the fan art. I believe a few of them were done using GIMP.

There's a program out there called Paint.NET you might want to check out. I've never used it, but I've read a little about it and I know it's free. You can find it on download.com from what I've read.

and painttool SAI is free for 30 days only costs i'm told $60 for liscense. after your 30 days are up. IF your looking to get more art-ish programs at a NO- low cost.

As for Microsoft Paint, while its not impossibly to use it will be a bit more on the painstaking said to attempt to color in this program in great detail. most lineart when broken down is not "clean" to the point that paint in MSpaint would be easy. Not to say it cant be done b/c it most certainly can be done, BUT it's not exactly easy. And when saving the files tend to be MASSIVE on your memory space. Or at least this was my experiance way back when.

The 'art form' Oekakai, is usually very similar to using MSpaint. ^_^

I downloaded GIMP, so I'm gonna experiment with it for awhile. Any tips?
