I'm not sure how helpful it is to others, but I know it really helps me with fanfic writing. Sometimes it's because it's been a while since I posted the last chapters, and sometimes it is just to get into the mood to write for that particular fic. Reading either all that is written so far, or just the last chapter written, can be very helpful. One may be able to see mistakes they may had not seen before as well. It can give a new point of view to the story as well. You may even change your story after reading, finding a better way to continue the story.
Do other people do this? I hope I'm not just weird. XD It at least helps me a lot.

Yup,
I do it all the time when I proof-read before posting, and proof-read after posting. I also re-read a fic entirely before I do a new chapter, if I haven't updated in a while. Helps to re-familiarise myself with the plot. I also re-read just to find additional errors, if there are any, to correct.
I also do it for final-proofs after posting too.

Oh girl! I re-read my chapters several times before I start a chapter! I usually re-read the chapter at least 3 times before posting (outside of my typical writing / editing process), then wait a few days and re-read again before starting the next chapter. It really helps to remind yourself of not only the direction, but the emotion of the characters in the last chapter!
I think it's a great way to improve as a writer!

Oh, good! Then I'm glad that other people do the same. ^.^
