I downloaded Java to use the chat room. I was able to log on but no one was displayed as being on and it didn't look like how the tutorial showed it. It maybe just my computer, but is anyone else having this problem? Or is the chat thing kind of dead?

I realize my profile says I have been a member for four years but I actually for got all about this site till recently, so I'm new. hehehe.

Unfortunately, from what I have seen, chat has been pretty much dead...

When I sign in it looked like old school msn so I wasn't sure if I missed something and all the other boards I found about chat were all older. So I'm not crazy thats good to know. Thank you Beloved!

Has there been any update or acknowledgement as far as whether or not chat is dead? If so, there should be some kind of warning in the chat tab or something. I tried in four different browsers, and have the most recent Java update and it still just shows a blank gray box for me, so I am updating this thread instead of making a new one. Since it is not just me having this issue.

I read the other chat thread invite thing, so I checked out chat, opened it, and activated java, and logged in and it worked.

I was chatting for like five seconds.

I use the latest version of Firefox btw though, and have installed or activated the java thing too.

Not sure if it's a recent thing or if chat wasn't working at all myself before.

I don't really use it.

It works for me now though.

I saw that thread! I tried logging in on Explorer and it worked, which is odd. But it doesn't have a skin or anything like that.

Smortz: have you tried Explorer? I can't remember if you said that in the other thread I saw.

So Chat worked completely fine for me until about 3 days ago. Instead of being directed to the chatscreen, I'm given a refreshed version of the chat tab and I haven't been able to fix it at all. Is anyone else having the same problem or is it just me?

Which browser do you use? it opened just fine for me on firefox right now.

You're not the only one. I tried logging into the chat room and the same thing happened to me - I was directed back to a refreshed chat tab (I'm using Firefox too).

I redownloaded toooo, okay for Mac/Apple users if you face an issue like that, not only do you need to uninstall but you gotta remove your bookmarking/user data/password etc as well. Or else the issue will keep popping up as long as it remembers your previous history.

Mine hasn't worked for years... I remember this problem from before the break-up and I simply can't make chat work for me at all. When ever I manage to download and install Java, I get add-on chat and not what I remember Chat being at all.. downloading and installing another browser doesn't help either (I use Chrome day to day, tried with Explorer and Firefox) Considering I have new laptop since the problems started for me, it can't be with machine..

I just gave up, though I try every now and then to get in, but with sad results..

Yeah, I gave up a couple of years ago. It used to work with my mac but no longer.

Makes me wonder if it's worth it to keep paying for it if there are so many that have issues accessing it.
