i read one about a worm youkai sometime ago.
i was like "uh huh" .:blank face&&2minutes later:. "BWAHAHAHAHAHA"

i read one once where there was a Kangar0o youkai.... i think i about died then...

I can't remember where but I once read a story with a squirrel youkai or maybe it was a chipmuck. It was quite some time ago though.

The following is an excerpt of 4arrows' story "The Detachable Penis."

Sesshoumaru: "There was an uprising on the southern border. A small army of hummingbird youkai were prepared to invade the Western Lands, but I soon showed them who was boss."

This was hillarious on so many levels! I mean hummingbird youkai??!! It WAS a crackfic afterall, so I guess that was the point. It's my favorite example of odd youkai.

There's one i've read where there were octopus youkai. In the story, they were killed off.

I recently read a fiction where there was a rooster youkai... plumage and all.. hi's wife was a chicken named Chicka it made me giggle! What's the oddest Youkai you've read about?

That's greek mythology, and should be an excellent candidate for a youkai.

I would think (shameless plug) that vegetable youkai are very unusual and weird.

I read about a rabbit youkai. Long floppy ears and all. It sounded weird but cute!

But there's an episode of Inuyasha when Kagome brings home those dried bits of demon and when ji-chan boils them up to eat them they turn into giant vegetable looking youkai. So vegetable youkai wouldn't be that farfetched either.

There was one I read where there was a manatee youkai. Not sure what they would look like.

The oddest youkai I think I read in a story would have to be a Flamigo youkai. At that I calmly walked away from the computer before I busted out laughing. It was so funny!
