As you can see from the 'Fresh Boarder' listed under your name, board rankings are currently enabled. I was thinking earlier about how silly 'Fresh Boarder' sounds and then realized that for the most part, I don't really look at or care how many times someone has posted on a forum. It doesn't affect whether or not I reply or don't reply, or whether someone should or shouldn't be moderated.

On one hand, it is indeed nice to have a title that honors someone who spends a lot of time being active in discussions, on the other, I've never been on a forum that didn't use rankings to either make some members of the community seem more valuable than others, or to praise those in high ranking.

We can either put everyone on the same level and only designate the admins and forum mods (so people know who to contact), or keep the current ratings system, although we need some new labels.

I am strongly in favor of having no rankings system, although I thought I would post this so we can hear what everyone has to say on the issue.

Heehee, on my forum, I left the rankings, but all of them except people who are Admins have the word "pudwhacker" in there somewhere: "Pudwhacker", "Still a Pudwhacker", "Almost Not a Pudwhacker", "Not Quite Not a Pudwhacker, and finally, "Not a Pudwhacker". XD

I never minded the rankings system on boards, and always found the titles to be an outlet for ingenious and humorous names created by the board administrators. It's also a better way to recognize the contributions of certain members, and a badge of pride for them.

I like the rankings i think it gives the other members a good idea of who else is an active member of the site!

Point taken. Now, we need names for our ranks that don't sound like something that would be applicable to a dog being boarded at a kennel while is owner is out of town.

These are the default titles:
Fresh Boarder
Junior Boarder
Senior Boarder
Expert Boarder
Gold Boarder
Platinum Boarder

Yeah, I was thinking silly might be appropriate, but most of the titles I could think of weren't really gender-neutral.

LOL I was wondering about the names myself. Relating to the Inuyasha-verse would be good. Maybe, considering the nature of Sesshoumaru, we should go for broke on the dog analogy.

Fresh Boarder starts as Pup - Whelp - Inuyoukai - Daiyoukai(which implies larger size) -Taiyoukai (which inplies great power and size)
