Artist improvement-Take Three!
Picture information
Description:
Artwork is based on TallyMark's "Frivolous Sentimentalities".
So, many, many moons ago, Priestess Sianna (or is it Mistress now?) posted a challenge to take an old artwork and redo it. I chose this piece that I did in 2009. The biggest reason? Ever since I saw Janey-Jane's piece (so beautifully done), I've absolutely hated mine, although at the time I was awfully proud of it. Instead of shredding it up and never admitting that I drew it (which I really was going to do, I chose to take up the challenge of becoming better at drawing.
So, the original is posted on Deviant. Done in April 2009 in ink/watercolor. Yes, all by hand. The flowers took forever. You can still see it there, but I rather you skip it on by. I only leave it up so others can see that with practice, you can get better...that is, I'm assuming that others will think that I am getting better.
Take Two was done last year using my tablet and MacBook. I reworked some lines and have to admit that the shading is much nicer but I still hated it. However, I am realistic enough to know that Janey-Jane draws her way and I draw my way and she really is the better of the two.
Take Three! Took a month to finish and layers upon layers with lots of blending. I wanted to try this method for awhile (Look, Ma!No Lines!) and since I was getting to know this picture pretty well, used this to try it out on.
I have to admit, I feel good about this one. Please note, I am not going for "Real" factor here. I wanted a anime/manga feel but more natural feeling. You can find a bigger, stand alone version on my Deviant account (please visit my profile for link).
So, how did I do?
