I have all my fanfic stuff on an SD card in my laptop so if something happens to the laptop, I can still pull out the card and be okay, but I really should have backups too.

Oh, I lost fanfic stuff that were incomplete. I tend to back up only complete fics. It isn't such a big deal, though. I can just download it from here. If I had lost original work though then that would be the end of the world.
Yeah, I'd advise getting backup anyway. I pay around 5$ per month for 250GB and I don't have to worry.

Srsly, the costs are coming waaay down and there isn't a more secure way to store your backup data, especially if you have large files!

Lol. I have that TOO! Last time my laptop died, I lost my dissertation three days before it was due. Needless to say, I didn't sleep for over 50 hours to rewrite it, so now I backup the important stuff in both external hard drives and online. You never know...and I'm paranoid. XD
